Best Thing for the Menopause
Ask a Question
Hi was wondering if anyone is going through the menopause
If so is anyone taking any vitamins they think helps
Iam refusing to go on HRT or any prescription drugs from the doctor as they put weight on you ,and I got told the minute you stop taking them all the flushes come back so no point even taking them
There is actually no evidence that HRT makes you gain weight, most woman naturally gain weight during menopause, it has nothing to do with HRT or any other prescription drugs for menopause.
My mum used to take all sorts of natural stuff for the menopause, it helped a little bit in terms of the hot flushes but not much else.
MrsCraig yes I know there isant but I know a few people who have been ok went on that and gained weight my sister was a size 8 and ended up a 16 she came off it and went back to her normal weight I take evening primrose I have always took that and I do notice a difference if I run out for a few weeks with my flushes thanks for your comment

I didn’t want to take HRT as I would rather try the natural way so I take these vitamins and they seem to have reduced my hot flushes
tara73ziva I will have to look out for these give them a try I don't want to take HRT either the flushes drive you mad don't they especially if it's a bad one that comes from your toes to your head just can't handle them at times
I'm going through the menopause but will not take any prescribed drugs or vitamins, weight was good until l reached 56 years old, now no matter how much exercise and healthy eating l do I'm collecting weight around my middle that l cannot shift.
Pinkspirit I have put weight on round my tummy I look pregnant with this wee belly sticking out
It seems tv, radio, books, social media, the workplace etc are all over this subject at the moment. I think it is important to point out that not all women suffer during this time of life. I sailed through it with no symptoms that I am aware of. I wanted to point this out so younger women heading toward it are not filled with doom and gloom.
It would be interesting to know the statistics of how many women do and don't suffer.
Does anyone suffer from night terrors withe the menopause sometimes I'm afraid to go to sleep because of them I know they are not real but when they happen they seam real and frightening till I wake up
jigsawx3x that’s a new one, I have not had the night terrors i hope I don’t get them
kate1310 The hot flushes are not to bad though the day but then I am outside most of the day so they are useful as it’s freezing at the moment, but a night the hot flushes drive me insane and it’s to hot to sleep so I have the window open and a light weight duvet on the bed so that seems to help through the night. Jigsaw that’s a new on I have not had night terrors, hopefully I won’t have them.
tara73ziva when iam at work and it's cold I always say come on flushes where are you when I need you lol mines are really bad at night outside the quilt in the quilt thats all you tend to do all night walk about the house with a wee vest top on constantly
I found one of my best buys to help with menopause, was a back scratcher .
And of course my 15 speed fan for the bedroom
I’m not allowed to take anything with actual hormones in as I have HER2 positive cancer. I have found that evening primrose oil helps which you can buy yourself. But I also got my GP to prescribe oxybutynin ‘off label’ - the actual use is for ladies who feel the need to wee too frequently- but one of the side effects is that it reduces sweating. It had helped me so much.
suevernon1968 sorry to hear that huni big hugs I have used evenings primrose for years it brilliant helps with sore breasts when it's your time of the month the way iam going I will be needing that oxybutynin shortly I have everything else wrong with me lol thanks for your comment
