alenaleigh0312 it has sweeteners which some people believe comes with its own health risk. I do not drink any fizzy drinks, they are not necessary to my life.

Just keep at it. My personal experience was do whatever you're doing without fail, without a break. That means even doing it on birthdays, holidays...stick to it and you’ll be fine

Thats great when we do something positive in life, it also needs determination and be motivated to reach our goal no matter what goes in our daily lives. Keep it up.

alenaleigh0312 Thanks, although I don’t need to do it as intensely anymore. I still keep fit, walk a lot and am fully aware of what I eat. At the time, I was very, very big and needed to take drastic action, so I did. It was certainly a pivotal moment in my life, which shapes who I am today (pun intended!)

Eat more vegetables and protein but less carbs. I was told by a dietician half your plate should be vegetables! Hard to stick to but it does work. Also cut out sugary and fizzy drinks completely. And avoid sweeteners as they make you crave sugar.

alenaleigh0312 yes my husband's the same! He needs a lucozade every day 😆 They are so unhealthy, I rarely have fizzy anymore since I found out how much sugar is in them.

Tasha042 there are absolutely no health benefits to fizzy drinks and it makes me mad hearing of all the teens drinking energy drinks every day, quite often 6 or so a day, full of sugar and caffeine. They are actually detrimental to health.

Tasha042 yes my hubby life style made him at risks. Thats why i am keep on telling him that fizzy drinks is not good. Now he had pain on his knee as the doctor said it may be cause of his over weight. He is now avoiding fizzy drinks and now drinking mint tea and didnt eat midnight snack. As he his thight tshirt 3xl can be fit again. I hope he can maintain this not because of his knee problem but to change the lifestyle of what he has before. Hope he can fit 2xl in the future fingered crossed lol.

alenaleigh0312 fingers crossed for him. I hate that unhealthy things are advertised everywhere you go. It's so hard to give up the junk and it's hard to not eat through stress. It will be so worth it though, his knee may even improve with just a few healthier swaps. My hubby has swapped ice cream for natural yoghurt but still need to find swaps for crisps and chocolate 😂

lynnibis yes energy drinks are really dangerous and there's not enough warnings around them. When I was 14 one of my friends drank just 2 cans and started having palpitations. She couldn't catch her breath, she was dizzy and couldn't stand. It was actually really scary. I never drink them now after that.

Avoid sugary drinks. Eat more vegs and fruit and less carbs. I find for me it is about cutting down on foods, rather than cutting out food groups. So instead of getting rid of carbs, have less. It is also about exercise. You need to cut down the amount you are eating or change what you are eating and start exercising or exercise more. If you are someone who eats when bored or stressed then you need to find something to do in place of that, such as going for a walk or doing housework, anything to stop you eating extra.

Drink lots of Water, avoids sugars and artificial sweeteners. I have to avoid artificial sweeteners as they make me very unwell (migraines, headaches, fatigue, nausea) but I also have to avoid sugars as they also make me unwell.

Eat a well balanced diet, Eat little and often. This will speed up your metabolism and help with weight loss.

Exercise is great as it will help burn extra calories and shed weight.

Minimise junk food and eat lots of different fruits and vegetables.

Make small (but big) swaps. Margarine instead of butter, fry light instead of oil, Natural sweetener instead of sugar, diet drinks instead of full sugar if you have to have them. Plain or salted popcorn instead of sugar or toffee. 5% fat mince or Quorn instead of Full fat mince. These little swaps make a huge difference.

Look at making graze trays if you like to snack in front of the TV, it is a fun way to try different foods but feel included. They can be sweet or savory..or both!!

You will loose weight, plateau out for a while and then start to loose weight again. This is normal!

If you can have a multivitamin and mineral supplement a day this will ensure you have everything your body needs.

Keep at it :-)

If you fall off track, don't dwell on it or think you will start again on Monday, start again straight away.

I found writing Everything down you eat or drink... Everything!! Will help you see where you are doing good and where you can improve. You can look back on good and bad weeks and get back on track with ease.

Oh, and only weight yourself once per week, preferably the same day and time of day, but also take body measurements. The scale may not show a loss but you may still loose inches that week xx

Lots of good advice but I would not be replacing butter with margarine. Butter is far healthier, just don't plaster food with it. Margarine contains loads of disgusting additives and is not fit for human consumption. I would also use olive oil when you need a little more than a spray. For the same reasons as margarine I would not touch sweeteners but if you can't do without sugar use something like half spoon. More expensive but one small bag lasts me about 3 months.

lynnibis I actually completely agree with you on the Marg front. It is full of disgusting stuff and doesn't taste great at all. It's hard for me being sensitive to both sugar and sweeteners, so that's why I stick to a natural sweetener. Sugar causes me to have major hypos and sweetener horrible migraines. I will try the half spoon. I used to use it many years ago and liked it.

:-) xx

  • Don't overeat
  • Try to walk more than travel by car/bus/train
  • Cut on eating sweets and snacks
  • Drink water instead of fizzy drinks and etc
  • Exercise

Well, you know, basically what you've always been told but actually make use of it.

There's nothing wrong eating meat or fish, it's actually beneficial that you do but don't just stuff yourself till you can't move. lol I know that's a damn good feeling but not one if you want to get fit.
