Best Value Supermarket
Money Saving
What’s people thoughts on which is the best value supermarket for ‘big’ shops not convenience shopping
Probably Aldi and Lidl for most stuff. Though there are bits that are more expensive there, and they don't have quite the range of some of the bigger supermarkets.
I love Tesco's...they have a brilliant variety and excellant prices..
Morrisons has put ALOT of thought and effort into our Scottish products in their shops...plus its my nearest supermarket and their prices are really great...also great cafe...free childrens meal with an adults after school.
Over all Aldi and Lidl are my top favorites for pricing and value.
For freezer food shopping its defo Iceland...their weekly deals are at a great reduction.
ellenmcmurchie I love Tesco’s for the variety, personally I find it quite a bit more expensive if I do a big shop there however if you look for the deals and work off that they have some really great offers
I find Tescos best for big shop. Great value & lots of good offers. I also like the clubcard scheme. I like Aldi too for the odd pieces.
Tesco is my favourite but I tend to buy the products their value products now called ms molly, stockwell, hearty foods etc plus their offers, I wouldn't buy their premium stuff or much stuff that isn't on offer. I generally find it the best supermarket overall for quality and value but where I live we have a particularly nice Tesco, better than most I've seen. I'm not very loyal though and tend to use a supermarket when I have a voucher for it. The one supermarket I rarely go to is Asda, they don't seem to do discount vouchers and I'm not particularly impressed with their quality and prices. I expect it to be going to Aldi regularly in the future though as it is quite close to me but that won't be open for a month or two.
There is already a post on Aldi and Lidl if you check it out and I think personally that them two are the best supermarkets at the moment, especially for their vegatables.
We do our main shop in Aldi, but ours is located in a retail park by Home Bargains and Iceland Food Warehouse so we go to them aswell to pick up some bits.
We do our big shop in Aldi and a “top up” shop in Tesco for all the luxury bits we can’t get in Aldi
We shop mainly in Aldi and top up in Asda or Iceland. If we had a Tesco nearby I would use Aldi and Tesco as their bargains seem to be really good.
Aldi is definitely the best and I find that they have longer dates and food last longer. you Can get everything you need there as well
