Which Book Would You Make Into a Film?

Ask a Question

If you could turn any book into a film what would it be? I am so intrigued to hear what you have to say 😀 !

Oooh that's a difficult one as it's often done so badly. Can I give my opinion of what's been done well and poorly? Off the top of my head....

Good book to film;

- Green Mile

- Lord of the Rings

- Shawshank

Rubbish book to film:

- The Hobbit (I love Tolkien but how the hell did they turn such a small book into such looong films)

Stephen King books seem to work well to film....

Any of Conn Iggulden's series of books would make rip roaring blockbusting films: Conqueror (life of Genghis Khan), Emperor (rise and fall of Julius Caesar) Wars of the Roses (speaks for itself). They would require a series of films though as two of them consist of 5 books.

I read the Seven Lives of Evelyn Hardcastle and it was so confusing with the different time lines, if it was a film I think it would work much better as you could at least retain some of the plot line through 1 hr 20 mins or so.

This book is on my 'to be read' pile. Hopefully I won't find it too confusing.

I'm not sure that it's always successful - we all have a picture of certain characters in our heads when we read a book and it can be very disappointing when the chosen actor doesn't measure up. An example of this was a book called 'Man on fire' and the main character John Creasy a tortured, rumpled drunk in the vein of Dirty Harry. Denzil Washington was cast (an absolute favourite of mine) and he was totally unbelievable in the part. Although the tv series Sharpe was successful with Sean Bean the books described Richard Sharpe as a dark haired, brooding, chip on his shoulder, handsome guy well over 6ft tall. Sometimes it works..... char2020 Do you have a book that you would like to see turned into a film?

I would turn Narnia book 1 into a movie....I think that is the best book from the whole series and they made the first movie from the second book and it is a horrible mistake....

A documentary would be great based on Deepak`s book How to live for free book...

I believe they have been made into movies. Liam Neeson voices Aslan, the Lion.

I love all the Narnia books and really did enjoy the 2005 live action version of the lion, the witch and the wardrobe but would like to have seen them all redone in order as i think they wouldve given other book to film series such as harry potter and twilight a run for their money.

The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. It's an out there story that could work well on screen. It has already been adapted on film and TV in Russia, but I think would also work well if it was made with a bigger budget and in English. It could be made into a film or a Netflix style series 🐈

I really liked Brave New World when I was younger. The dystopian or society based movies are always interesting to me.

Susana I've not heard of this before so I will definitely check it out. I loved the 'Gone' series as a teenager similar theme to this by the sounds of it
