Does anyone know when the Boots 70 % off will start in January 2017?

MSE Update, 1.40pm Wed 18 Jan - We've just received confirmation from Boots that its sale is boosting to up to 70% off in-stores from Fri 20 Jan.
Note from Tom: I am copying these updates from this deal post by Johnny. I would add that it was MSE who said on ITV that the Boots sale would be on this Wednesday, so not sure if I'd trust them very much - or even Boots itself.
UPDATE Wednesday 18th January 4.15am:
Boots website is still 'live' with no sign of the boost to 70%. I think it's safe to go back to bed!
UPDATE Wednesday 18th January 3am:
As the Boots website is still live at 3am with no holding page etc I think it's unlikely to be today folks. I'll keep monitoring for another hour or so just in case...Strong rumours now that it will start this Friday instead.

Dread I checked the official website as that's usually the one source to go for. For some reason the one on LD shows up as 'expired'.

Thanks, no it’s OK, just a temporary hiccup. It's now live again.
Don’t expect a formal announcement of the date of the January 2017 Boots 70% Off Sale on the Boots website (or anywhere else) until the very last moment. Boots will want to clear as much Christmas Stock as they can during their ‘50% Off Sale’ that’s running now (at a higher margin), before their final ‘70% off’ clearance sale begins (i.e. with the extra 20% off).
If Boots announced the date of the 70% Off January Sale now, customers would delay their purchases until that date (waiting for the lower price), and Boots would make less profit. Sainsburys was equally hush-hush about the actual start date of its 1/2 Price Toy Sale last autumn. Latest Deals was amongst the first to post the rumoured start date of that one attracting thousands of new visitors via the Search Engines.
Contrary to Dread’s comment, my posting of the likely date of the Boots 70% off sale in the deal section before the event starts is not ‘crazy’ – doing so both helps keeps Latest Deals’ users informed, and helps attract new visitors to Latest Deals via the Search Engines.
It can take Search Engines like Google a few days to index and re-index the posts on Latest Deals. Wait until ‘Sale Day’ before posting and you miss the search engine boat by a country mile. It is good that the Boots ‘story’ is also running in the LD Chat section, but it’s worth noting that LD’s Deal posts get a higher profile ranking on Google than Chat posts.
Conduct a Google Search for the ‘Boots 70% Off January Sale’ today, and you’ll see the top search results on Page One are from Latest Deals’ competitors. Hopefully we can join them in the Page One results and attract some of that user traffic to Latest Deals.
Johnny True. Companies avoid promoting new offers before getting rid of stock they don't want.
The best to go to stores which located in stations, like the London Liverpool Street one, they have stock. Online all the offer will go in minutes.
The predicted day is either 11th January 2017 or 18th January 2017 but most likely on the 11th.
Usually 3rd Wednesday in January. Friend works there and there's extra staff in that day... 18th!
My store has the 70 % up behind other ones today loads stock getting more out when i was in feeling it may be tomorrow

They said if people are still buying at 50% they will delay 70% sale. So my advise will be stop buying lol
Last year boots Web site went down at 12 to change prices but at moment it's still at 50%
What's going on... does anyone know when the boots 70% sale is? I've been up checking all night again, this is shocking how boots are going on

Been into my local boots store here in the Isle of Man and they have removed all the Number seven sets they had on display on Monday. asked one of the ladies on the till where they had all gone to and she said they were all put away in the stock room by order of management; there is hardly anything worth buying from the store in Douglas.
A lady in boots has just told me it's tomorrow... they have been told today. Theyve been told to take certain things off the shelves (the no7 gift set 
) as they won't qualify for that discount...
I agree with stringer 1980 went to my local boots today they to have removed the no7 gift box saying they are keeping them for valentine's day ! But she denied that she knew the sale was tommorow . Saying they still don't know! But in my basket on line the no7 gift set is still in my basket .Unless they update that later ! Anyway let's see what happens tommorow another sleepless night waiting !!!!!
The sale is instore only. Online will remain at 50% Anyone any idea about fragrance sets. Loads in Manc Market Street - surely further discounts?
So how are people getting on in the boots sale Instore?? Not too happy about what's online to be honest
