Boots Are Running a TRIAL Recycling Scheme for Empties
Other
Boots are running a TRIAL recycling scheme for empties (beauty, wellness, healthcare or dental products) that are difficult to recycle through your household waste - see below. When you visit one of the 50 participating stores* and bring five empty products to one of the in-store recycle bins, they'll give you 500 Boots Advantage Card points – that’s worth £5! The points have to be used the same day you hand in the items.
It is aimed exclusively at recycling ‘hard to recycle’ beauty, health, wellness product packaging which cannot typically be recycled through household curbside collections, for examples products that are too small (such as travel minis), made of composite materials (eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks, floss dispensers) or from unrecyclable materials (toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes). There is quite an extensive list of things they accept in the terms and conditions link above.Widely recyclable card and paper packaging, glass jars, aluminum packaging, shampoo and conditioner bottles,

We are too far North sadly. I thought they would have been at least the metro centre or Eldon square on the list
IrisPegram list of stores above they trialing it at moment if takes off more stores hopefully
Ive always been of the opinion that if companies reward people to recycle then it will then get more participants.I think it is a brilliant idea and 1 I would totally support and to help the planet has to be a good thing .#WelldoneBoots
This is a great idea, although unfortunately no stores near me are doing it. Hopefully soon it’ll be available in more places!
The body was doing the same once Covid hit and refused to take the bottles. Not sure if they will start up again.
I tried to drop my empties in a few months ago, late last year, but due to covid, they suspended the scheme
Excellent idea. Can’t see one in my area so hopefully these 50 will be successful enough to roll out in more place
what an excellent idea and why can't this become commonplace across far more types of store etc ? Well done to BOOTS!
I love recycling, but gutted as my area is not one of the chosen places! I dont know why as alot of people recycle in this area?
I took yesterday 5 products second time and they disqualified me because one of them wasn't accepted. Didn't like the idea of receiving the email once the others were deposited instead of telling you in advance as they were on the account banked for days. Anyone had the same issue?
I’ve just had to create a new account today - it appears they've updated the site and rather than transferring my details over from the previous site, I’ve just had to create a new account. It’s been updated so that they review the photos of your products first before you can drop them off - looks like reviews only happen during the week, and you have to add to bank at least 24 hrs prior to deposits
GSM that is strange. After reading the faq on the new/updated site, It is certainly different to how they were operating previously. Anyway, I’ve banked 9 items, and I’ll wait for some form of notification from them before I pop to my Boots. If it’s not a straight forward process, I can’t imagine many people doing it
GSM I had 5 items validated and popped them at the Boots today. I automatically received an email to say I’ll get a 250 points voucher BUT 1) I can only redeem it on a minimum £10 transaction, and 2) I have 3 days to use it. Yes, only 3 days! Definitely not worth your while if you don’t need to buy anything
Great idea but not available in County Durham or Tyne & Wear. Never mind hopefully they will soon
Has anyone realized that they changed it? You get half of the points now and you have to spend at least £10.
Yes it’s changed, and highly restrictive. So don’t drop anything off unless you need anything imminently (comments above)
