Boris Johnson Hints at Another Lockdown

In the News

Predictable. It was only a matter of time before lockdowns were brought back.

Years from now there'll be a different "variant" and thus another lockdown.

I don't see it happening. All the evidence suggests the vaccine works against the indian variant hence the stepped up roll out. Tbh knowing the vaccine is effective & more so than they hoped, I feel theres a fair bit of OTT reporting over the variant(s). Are we going to just continue discussing different variants all the time?? Because we'll never stop discussing it. I'm so over it all.

I am not sure how I feel . If the vaccine is the release then my mind tells me once everyone who has taken the vaccine if there is then any restriction the public will never put up with it . They will argue that we have had 2 vaccines and by rights if the vaccine is doing the job its supposed to do then lockdowns will be a distant nightmare we are trying to forget not bring back .

We can't keep locking down every single time a new variant comes along. Now is the time to start learning to live with this virus, like we have done with all others since the dawn of time. I have been following all the rules to the best of my ability however, but it's all become very silly now.

That’s not a political statement. Light hearted joke.

We will never be clear of variants to the virus until all, who can be, become immune (via vaccination) are vaccinated. I reckon many of the younger covidiots will soon be changing their minds regarding being vaccinated now that it's been revealed that most of those threatened by new variants are in the lower age groups.

Most of the hospitalized people in Bolton has refused the vaccine. WHAT A SURPRISE!

bzortead No surprise to me - a fair bet is that most are the the covidiots who thought it was OK to flout all the rules. There'll be thousands more tomorrow thinking that just because certain things are no longer against the rules it is compulsory to do those things.

My life is a permanent lockdown so easy for me to say but surely good to be careful until the whole population is vaccinated?

There won't be. There is no reason to suspect that the vaccine isn't going to be effective against the Indian variants. And a large proportion of the adults in the UK have now had both vaccines. Children in schools are testing twice a week - my son's school hasn't had a single positive case since they went back to school before Easter.

The numbers are so low right now, even if the variant percentage is growing, it's still a percentage of a small number.

Let's hope the end is in sight.

You can't blame just the people. I think Boris is equally to blame if not more so, as he should have stopped all flights to and from India as soon as the variant was discovered.

It’s predictable to be fair

But I say this time I’m going out and doing stuff whilst we can

I’m fed up with it all now to be fair

I think we have to remember that there are lots of variants and no-one knows whether each one will be a problem until they have had time to study it. You can't close borders for each new variant.
