Bottled Water is No Better than Tap Water.

Money Saving

I know that many people insist on buying (very expensive) bottled water but there is no evidence that bottled water is significantly better than tap water.

For me, it's the taste. The taste of tap water is grim. I can taste the difference so even though there might be no difference I cant drink it out of the tap. It has to be bottle or cool boiled water for me.

I do agree that in some places the tap water does not taste nice. Even the different bottled water taste different. When I lived abroad with my kids and had to drink bottled or boiled water, we did a "blind" taste test to see which bottled water we liked best.

I think it really does depend on your location - I have no problem with tap water because in my area it is soft and, if there is such a description of water, fairly sweet. I do buy bottled for convenience sometimes but more than happy to fill up a glass from the tap.

Typical Tap Water Content:

Chlorine.

Fluorine compounds.

Trihalomethanes (THMs)

Salts of: arsenic. radium. aluminium. copper. lead. mercury. cadmium. barium.

Hormones.

Nitrates.

Pesticides.

If bottle water does not contain those contents then it is better than tap water.

I definitely agree to my taste. I really can't tell the difference when it's in the UK. There is a taste difference abroad but I think that's just because it's not what we are used to.

I refuse to pay inflated prices for water with a posh label on the bottle. Good old tap water for me everytime

I don't drink tap water because the water in my area is pretty hard and has a strong chlorine smell.. I don't buy expensive bottled water either, asda or tescos own brand is good enough for me lol.

I dont mind the water in my house but the water up my mothers (she literally lives less than a mile away) is horrible. We probably have the same supply so maybe there is something different with her pipes but i cant drink it even in coffee or squash its weird. When my sister lived in Lincolnshire her water was amazing, i used to bottle it to bring it home after visits 🤣

The thing with bottled water is you can chill it nicely in the fridge and it always tastes fresh. If you put tap water in the fridge it always tastes stale and not very nice , even though it's acceptable straight from the tap.

The tap water in my area is disgusting, it comes out cloudy initially and has a strange smell to it, so would never drink it straight from the tap. The water company in my area also gives out bottled water to staff that live in my area as they know how bad the water is and don't want people being off sick, that to me says it all

We have quite hard water in our area its okay but sometimes smells like a swimming pool.

If i buy bottled water i try to get it from the UK not stuff like Evian

The water pressure is also very low now we have a meter
