I thought what a lovely story and also a great way to connect with his grandmother and it showed an understanding about how the disease effects memory.
Although his comment about Big Ben made me smile.
Imnotcheap I thought that and also how great that he was following in her footsteps of where she had been at the same age he was seeing her as more than an old lady. I found it really touching
Such a lovely and kind story, my grandad had dementia and it was horrible watching him disappear. I hope the photos help his grandma.
Midnightflower Its such a horrible disease, hopefully she gets some comfort at looking at the photos and he said it made him feel closer to her.
beccatavender I hope it allows them to connect, my grandad use to get very confused when I told him my name as my parents named me after his youngest sister. He really had no idea who I was but I think he knew we were connected somehow. It really is a awful disease not only for the person affected but also for those around them.
Midnightflower My sister's father-in-law had dementia and it was really hard for the family as he used to wonder, trying to go to work. It was so worrying for everyone as he could be miles away, as he would catch buses. Plus he was convinced his wife was being unfaithful and there was no reasoning with him, towards the end he didn't recognise any of the family which was heartbreaking..
