Suggestions for Car Insurance Providers?
Ask a Question
Hello all,
I hope you are doing well. One of my friends need a decent car insurance company or a website to get quotes. Do you know which one is the most decent one? Thanks for your help.
Have a nice day.
I don't use price comparison websites because most of them are linked, I use Co-op insurance and always found them to be very good, you could also check direct line or saga if they are a bit older as they do decent deals too.
ulfetc You're welcome, I hope she gets the insurance sorted at a good price, here's a wee tip for you in case you didn't know, if you try for a quote on a Friday or over the weekend, your quote will be higher that it would be if you asked for a quote at the beginning of the week, also mess about with the option for voluntary excess too, you can often get the same deals with different Excess so make sure to change it a few times to find out your best deal.
There is no "best" comparison site . They all use the same database so results are similar . Go through Topcashback (Confused , Compare the Market , Quote me happy etc ,etc are all on there and you get an extra £30 -£50 cashback on whatever you decide on .
Trouble with insurance is we never know how good it is till we need it (and then it's too late ) . I'm afraid the "Buy on Monday " is an urban myth dating back to pre computerised days . However it is widely accepted that buying insurance 3 to 4 weeks before when you want it to start does work out cheaper ,
Also if your friend is young or drives low miles then some companies offer a pay per mile option (a box fitted in the car sorts it out ) . Less than 4000 miles per annum could work out cheaper .
I put the details in a price comparison, see which ones come out cheapest and then go direct to see if I can get it cheaper.
My husband and I are both with Quote Me Happy, owned by Aviva.
MrsCraig Think you have missed out a fairly important bit ? Go to these comparison sites through TCB , Quidco etc and you will gain an extra £30 -£50 cashback .
ulfetc Yes if you go through a cashback site like TCB or Quidco . Obviously you should compare all quotes . No point in choosing one for £30 cashback when the quote is £50 more than a similar quote without cashback .
