Christmas Budget

Other

What do people do about spending for Christmas. Do you have a minimum/maximum budget. Do you buy for both adults and kids? Any good suggestions for ways to save? I tend to save my nectar/tesco/boots vouchers etc throughout the year and use these towards the cost of Christmas to lighten the load.

I have a set amount that I wont go over. I save my tesco/nectar/boots and Morrisons points throughout the year. I only buy for our immediate family.

I don't really budget, but I have a general idea of how much I spend on certain people.

I buy throughout the year, hunting for deals myself, finding some here and elsewhere too. Buy in sales and get mispriced stuff when I can too! Spreads the cost out and means I never pay full price.

It can look like I've spent quite a lot more than I have, so means I can either be very generous, or not spend as much as I have assigned to each person, or something in between.

Oh and you should also use cashback sites - they're great for getting a bit of money back on your purchases.

We always save up throughout the year and then obviously figure out a suitable budget after listing all the people who must be gifted for. I try to get some vouchers from different little jobs too.

I try and budget and every year i say im cutting down but never really manage to ! I save all my points and survey earnings to buy presents also look for bargains. Maybe this year will be the year i actually cut down..... or maybe not 😬😬

i’m on a tight budget due to low income and high outgoings! I start buying in september to spread the cost... i spend around £20-£30 on each of our friends / family, £250 on my partner and we collectively spend £200 on his son.. do the same every year.

I now have a baby niece, but I don't really buy presents anymore, with friends we just keep it to birthdays and family we don't bother. For me it's all about the food

My suggestion would be to buy gifts as you seen them throughout the year if you can. I find that’s easier with adults as kids tend to change more there likes and interests.

I’m on a budget so couldn’t do all my Christmas shopping out of 1 or two wages so I save a bit each month.

Many stores have offers on around this time, like Argos 3 for 2 or Smyths £10 off a £50 spend. It’s worth taking advantage of these.

I’ve got my lads a few little stocking fillers and told them they can something up to the value of £50 and have set that money aside for them from savings.

I find it quite stressful making sure my family and friends have nice gifts when I’m skint.

My mom does the ‘Skint Dad’ challenge where you save 1p today, 2p tomorrow, 3p the following day and so on so by the end of the year you are putting it £3.65. if you manage to complete the whole 365 days , you will have £667.95 worth of savings! My mom does two jars and starts one from the other end so put 3.65 in one jar and 1p in the other and do two at the same time, you end up with over £1200 🙂
