Special Christmas Desserts?

Ask a Question

I have made a very boozy Christmas cake, and already have a small Chrismas pud from a hamper last year, but need something else that's cheap to make/buy and not a fruit cake. Any suggestions please?

Christmas Chocolate log my retro favourite cookie log=.... you get 2 packs of chocolate chip cookies, whip up some cream with some sherry or Baileys. Dip the cookie for half a second in the baileys or sherry and sandwich together with the whipped boozy cream. Do one pack then the other next to it so you are left with 2 packs of cookies side by side dipped in booze sandwiched with cream then cover them both with cream so looks like a snow covered log and grate some chocolate on the top. It sounds simple but tastes absolutley delicious! This is the only picture I can find thats similar but honestly its the best at Christmas and tastes delicous. My Mum used to make it every year! ❤ Image

How about a Trifle? You cant go wrong with a Trifle or maybe a Black Forest Gateau.

slightfoot Jelly & Fruit & Sponge fingers or just Jelly alone. Custard, then Whipping Cream or Dream Topping. Sprinkle with Hundreds & Thousands or Sugar strands. Easy job.

I usually make a lemon meringue pie as it is not too heavy and everyone eats it. It is pretty cheap to make as well.

I like to make a fizzy jelly trifle - we are all big kids - with 2 layers of fizzy jelly, an orange layer containing tinned mandarin slices, then raspberry with fresh raspberries. I top it with custard, then a layer of lemon syllabub. A bottle of lemonade added to the melted jelly cubes instead of water adds the fizz. I also make a pavlova or no-bake lemon cheesecake 😋

AlysonC haha, love it, fizzy jelly is brilliant, I know most folk add sherry but lemonades a great idea, especially if you don't drink
