I wouldn't go near one - reasons:

You save up money (without getting any interest) when paying for things in advance and when Christmas comes the money you have saved has to be spent on things that you could have got for much less, you often get things you don't even want, especially if the club you're in is for hampers.

Those things you do get aren't guaranteed so many of these clubs have gone bust before you MIGHT be able to spend your savings, and they don't have any protection for the mugs daft enough not to save up in some other way, who are then unable to spend their savings on what they want.

Some people who've used savings clubs have had their Christmases totally ruined when they've gone bust.

Read this then make up your own minds:https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/saving/article-6570433/Why-Xmas-savings-club-2019-prove-costly-mistake.html

Agree better off saving yourself as things can be cheaper elsewhere. If you struggle with saving why not get a account when can only withdraw at a date specified.

Good points. Never used one myself and no plans to. Just stick money in a savings account and get interest.

I just keep money on one side each month myself as I don't trust anyone to look after my money better than I can! 💷 🐞

I have always wondered if people do these, like those Parks saving vouchers. Surely they take a cut out of your savings too? So I don‘t see why people would use them if they do take a cut as you could just transfer that money into a savings account instead!

I just save money into a separate account and then use that when it gets to Christmas time. I also use my loyalty card points towards things.

I save towards Christmas groceries with Iceland. They add an extra £1 for every £20 you save with them. Also use TopCashback when doing online shopping as this can add up over a year, and cash out to PayPal.
