The Must Have Christmas Toy List

Ask a Question

Every year there is always a Must Have toy list beought out at Christmas. I've never once bought a toy that features on the list. I was wondering if others on here have or if it is just a marketing thing to make people worry that they won't get certain toys.

There was one year for my daughter and that was the fingerling lucky we ordered hers well in advance but honestly people was going mad because they couldn't get one my friend got one from Wowcher paired over the odds and it was fake

Leannexxx I remember the year where everyone wanted Fingerlings, I saw loads of people selling them on fb for extortionate prices. I understand people worrying if the kids have asked for it and you can't get it but I do sometimes think lots of it is just marketing. My son just wants Lightning McQueen or Hot Wheels so I don't tend to look at the must have toy list too closely.

MrsCraig I don't normally it's just that one she said she definitely wanted and she wasn't bothered what else she got

Leannexxx I think most parents are the same. Most of my friends kids ask for things that they like, not necessarily what is the most popular.

Years ago when my sister's twin boys were young Telly Tubbies were the must have toy that you couldn't get anywhere.

. My sister won all 4 in a competition & yes she could have sold the Telly Tubbies on as a set or individual for a nice sum but she didn't When her boys had finished playing with them my sister passed them on to me for my daughter & I passed them on to our brother for his daughter then they were passed back to my sister's sons for the next generation ..

janphoenix51 that's amazing, I love that. I remember Telletubbies, always ysed to be on when I visited my friends house as her younger sibling loved it. It's great that they are still being played with.

Luckily I don't think my children have ever asked for anything that's on a must have list, I wouldn't like the stress of possibly having to run around searching for something at the last minute.

Karen331 I am the same as you. My son doesn't really ask for stuff for Christmas, we just buy him stuff he likes and he is always grateful. He is only 4 though so I imagine that will change soon.

MrsCraig I think it does depend on the age of the child although saying that as my children grew up one of my children was more demanding than the others of what she wanted. She is in her 30s now and still hasn’t changed!

eyeballkerry I think because he is still young he doesn't really see all the toy ads on TV so doesn't ask for them. I'm hoping that continues.

I remember as a Child I really wanted this cupcake doll thing, it was a doll, but her skirt lifted up turning her into a cupcake, it was a really big thing that year, god knows how much it cost my poor mother, but it was absolutely rubbish, all hype and no substance
