Mine is I don’t like Mince pies
I also don't like mince pies! I don't like Christmas films, there are very few I can actually tolerate, I don't like how early they start playing Christmas songs on the radio, I hate Christmas cake and I hate how busy the shops are when I'm just trying to do a normal weekly food shop!
I like Christmas day but I can take or leave the run up to it!
I hate having Christmas anything before the 1st December as kids was told its unlucky dunno if thats because they hated it too
I don’t care about the food etc - it’s watching my grandkids tearing open their presents and getting all excited that I love- that’s all I really need
I prefer the run up to Christmas more than the day itself.
Christmas day feels like a rollercoaster you can't get off of, and there is too much pressure to make it perfect.
Christmas is so commercialised and people wanting and expecting. It should be about spending quality time with your loved ones. Beats why turkey should be served but I do it, it’s traditional but offer beef or gammon too.
I don’t like mince pies either. They always seem to have loads in the supermarkets, and on Christmas Eve they all get reduced to about 10p…and still no one wants them!
I hate most of the Christmas food:- turkey, sausages, christmas cake, christmas pudding, mince pies. Christmas 'do's' used to be really fun (not ) very glad I can avoid them these days.
With covid still around I now hate the shopping aspect too, not that I liked crowds at the best of times!
Piped music in shops that is sung by 'non-original artists' for months on end in the run up.
Decorations that go up months before.....
I love the Christmas songs starting earlier each year! I start listening the Heart Xmas as soon as it's available. I don't like the millions of emails each day about the number of sales. It's overwhelming.
I don't like the Sound of Music, they wheel it out most Christmases but I don't think I've ever watched it fully I just hate the movie. Also mulled wine, I don't like regular wine so you can imagine how much less I like mulled wine absolutely vile. Also I hate that European style plain chocolate, its like tasteless plastic. It's not something I would ever buy myself but you get it as a present. I think Lindt is a typical example. Ferraro Roche is another awful thing at Christmas, tastes alright but they cost a fortune for almost nothing. I'm not really into any products like that where you are paying for fancy presentation with very little actual product for your money.
I suppose my most hated Christmas thing is when celebrities bring out their Christmas songs hoping to cash in on Christmas. Most of them are pretty dire cover versions often sung with some pretty cheesy expressions and false emotions.
Lastly Easter Eggs, they seem to turn up in shops often around Christmas or just after nowadays and that annoys me, its like you see them even before New Years Day. Maybe its because in the past you would see them sometime in early January you would associate them with Christmas celebrations being over and now that they are actually sold in the Christmas period it almost feels like Christmas is being shortened.
There is nothing in your comment that I disagree with lol. On the other hand though, there are plenty of things I love about Christmas, the main thing is getting together with both sons and their families.
We never have turkey and for the last few years have went out and had a curry.
Do whatever makes you happy!!!
Do more of the things that make you happy!!
Yes not a fan of turkey, too dry and prefer chicken and nowadays the Christmas meal is steak and chips typically with the main roast on boxing day. I don't eat much meat most of the year so go a bit mad with a big steak on christmas day and probably only have steak about 3 or 4 times a year.
Inflated prices for most things, being told you are wrong not to want to get into debt to pay for gifts that people do not need and probably do not want. Being told that you have to party and be social when at this time of year you are naturally in down mode. Family time at Christmas being compulsory when you do not get on with your family. Making a big deal of Christmas dinner to the point it gives the host a near breakdown trying to make it perfect. The fact it started as a religious event that turned into a money making time of year, that makes those without feel bad, especially children that do not receive the latest overpriced must have item. Doing the same thing year after year is so boring.
Howmuch You have pretty summed up my opinion of Christmas. I find it all a bit false and you have to been seen to having a great time. If you are not, for whatever reason you are regarded a misery or a Grinch.
Christmas can be the best time for some people, but absolute misery for others.
Yeah mince pies are rank. I don't like the queens speech or the complete ***** they put on tv.
They should stick andrew on this year instead of the queen, at least we could have a laugh watching him sweat
telmel I would watch him getting arrested that would bring some Christmas cheer
I'm not a big fan of Christmas if I'm honest, but I don't like mince pies, christmas pud & I hate opening present infront of people, makes me so uncomfortable. If I didn't have children then I wouldn't do christmas - I love sprouts though
I find Christmas cards a chore. I reduce the number I send each year, I'm not bothered about receiving them either.
Also dislike sprouts, Christmas parties, the word 'Xmas', Christmas jumpers, the countdown beginning at Halloween........I could go on! Bah and indeed humbug!
I don't like Merry Christmas Everyone by Slade or elves on the Shelves, I find both really annoying
I agree with you. When did this elves thing start, they weren't around when my kids and even grandkids were young. Another idea from a company whizz kid to make more money I suppose.
As for Slade it is just one of many Christmas songs I can't stand!
I don't have a Christmas tree and am not particularly interested in having one.
I still like Christmas on the whole though.
On the whole I enjoy most things about Christmas but I do not like Christmas cards. There too annoying & clutter up the place. Any we receive I tend to put in a drawer.
I don't like coloured lights or tacky decorations or ugly gift wrap.
I don't like the gluttonous of Christmas & all the food waste. Too many people over buy....you can only consume so much.
I don't think places like pubs/restaurants should be open on Christmas day . My wife works in 1 and its carveries are normally between £4.99 and £10.99 for a carvery but Christmas day your paying £47.99 per person .I do think when I was younger it was boring that everywhere was shut and it was then came with the pleasure of a family Christmas and something which many years ago was classed as normal .
I used to work in a pub for a good few years and im still amazed the demand was there for a overpriced Sunday roast on Xmas day. You could basically get the same 3 course meal nearly any Sunday with the exception of Xmas pudding and it was more than half the price of the Xmas day lunch
Can’t stand Christmas Pudding, egg nog, mulled wine. Don’t watch the Queen’s speech. But I do love the sprouts & music!
