Have You Been Cooking More in Lockdown?
Ask a Question
I love cooking, and am so grateful to be cooking even more as I was before now that I have more time on my hands. But I know some of my friends have not been taking this to their advantage and are getting more food delivery instead.
Have you been cooking more in Lockdown, or treating yourself with a delivery?
I cook from scratch most nights. Nothing to do with Lockdown. It's cheaper that way. I often batch cook and pop dishes in the freezer to save time and money too. I have been doing this since my university years when my budget was super tight and I would live on £10 per week!!!
I love cooking too but I've noticed habits have changed throughout the lockdown. At first it was great to put together a new dish and there were many 'adventures' along the way. We all found that we were focusing on the next meal too much though! I admit that I probably did order more than I normally would in the first four weeks but, as supplies have returned to normal, so have I. I honestly think I will continue with regular home deliveries though as I haven't missed the physical shop visit (apart from a local shop that sells the most amazing Portuguese tarts) My freezer is full of batch cooked meals and pasties. Haven't had one takeaway.
I have had no alternative but to have takeaway deliveries. But let me explain... My local coffeeshop home-delivered some flour, vegetables and ready meals as my Ocado order was cancelled three times. So I really had no way of getting food easily. Plus, I am on a special food program health reasons. I am such a diva!
I also ordered from my lovely boutique restaurant to support them as they had to close their restaurant and swap it to a home delivery service. I was thankful for the lovely restaurant prepared food to be cooked at home. At bargain prices too. Best of both worlds.
These chaps are my 'Caped Crusaders' and I go further to say they are my personal key workers!
Xx
I have been cooking and baking so much. It makes me feel relaxed and love to see my family enjoying it.
We order less takeaway during lock down and instead we buy ready made meals. I think I cook the same amount like before. Nearly everyday.
Cooking a lot more and eating a lot healthier, haven't had a takeaway since March, I like that I've had time to cook during this time
Not a single takeaway for me in lockdown, cooked all the time. Pre lock down it was takeaway most days (lunch at work)
