Be great for those who can't have the vaccine for genuine health reasons.

What is your opinion on it, vixe80?

RegularComper90 Why just for genuine health reasons? So people who don't want the vaccine shouldn't be treated?

Leannexxx I would imagine that if you are anti vax then you would also be anti this pill as I cannot understand what difference there would be, you are still putting a foreign substance into your body with unknown consequences.

I think if it is made available to everyone there is no problem.

I would take it and I have just had my booster jab (no ill effects like last two) but today I had a call from my doctor advising I go on statins to reduce my cholesterol, which isn't high!

Apparently I am at higher risk of heart attack or stroke due to diabetes 2. I told her I am not willing to take yet another drug (already on blood pressure, diabetes and thyroid drugs) but will keep an open mind and take them if my cholesterol creeps up.

Another thing that discouraged me was hearing from a knowledgeable friend that doctors get paid for every patient they prescribe statins to. That is abhorrent to me.

Lynibis I'm not a anti vac at all I believe people have a choice and they shouldn't be judged for the choice that they make as I've said many of times this vaccine doesn't sit well with me I don't know why maybe down the line that might change me and my kids have had all other vaccines by choice we still make sure that we do everything not to catch covid and hopefully no one would get it from us we do daily test to make sure that we are clear before we take are daughter to school

RegularComper90 that is true, hopefully those unable to have vaccine will be able too.

My opinion is that hopefully it will help with the continuous battle against covid, but am wary as I believe we only country currently to allow its use.

It contains the same ingredients as the injection, but in pill form. You took the injection, that's fine, I worry about what it'll do to my body if I'd take it.

I have sixty more years to go before clocking out.

It's not a matter of being afraid of a needle, it's what's in it that's troubling.

PhilipMarc Yeah but if you catch covid and you are very susceptible to it could kill you or leave you with organ damage or other health conditions. Fair enough if you live on an island on your own but can't you get exposed to covid 19 at all? Its like the oxford jab giving you thrombosis or pfizer giving you an enlarged heart etc, covid 19 is far more likely by hundreds, maybe thousands of times to give you either of those conditions. Its all about playing probabilities really. Covid is still mutating too and those who already have some immunity are likely to be able to fight the mutated forms much better than those who have never had covid or have never been vaccinated.

vixe80 one would think so but I must admit I have not looked into it too deeply. I thought I read that it is a pill for those who have Covid not as a protection against it.

A pill sounds ,much easier to take than an injection and has to be a better option in my view. If this rolls out and is successful it can only add to our defence against this horrible virus. I cant imagine that those who are anti-vax will take this though if its the same basic ingredients

didbygraham absolutely agree, and I haven't researched but I wonder if pill effectiveness will last longer than vaccine?

Is this pill going to be instead of the vaccines or do you think the vaccines will still be as well as the covid pill?

I think taking a pill against Covid is a brilliant find. So many nurses and admin staff manning the vaccination sites that could go back to their real jobs. Bring on the pill asap.

I'm not sure if I've got it wrong but I think this pill is for treating covid once you have tested positive it's not like the vaccine

To me it just sounds like a cold medication like lemsip etc but for covid, so take it once you have symptoms and get better? Don't think it will replace the vaccine tho

It's not an either /or for those who don't like injections (me amongst them ! ) . I've "manned up " and had all mine including the flu + boosters (even though I hate any needles 😣 !)

But the majority of us need to keep on doing what is sensible to protect the rest of our population 😀 .

Surely now 18 months on from mass vaccinations , even the densest of the dense must realise that their dubious stance is now totally irrelevant and unsupportable - not to mention dangerous !

Perhaps some of us may at long last realise their stupidity ?
