Curry's, (Are Their Offers Ever Real)?
Ask a Question
Looked at a few laptop offers in curry's, always a lot dearer than price given on offers site, is it just me?
Are any retailer offers real? Some are, some are not and it really depends on what you consider to be an offer. The best thing to do is try to track the price over a time period using tools such as pricechase, pricetro and pricespy. There are similar sites for Amazon too. Some retailers sell products at a higher price in a minimum number of locations and online for the shortest period they can leading up to the reduction. It is a legal requirement to sell at the higher price beforehand basically.
Based on your wording, you are possibly talking about offers you have seen posted on here or elsewhere though, compared to what you are seeing on the Curry's website. If that is the case, check the date of the post as some offers don't last long of course. I've never plenty of crap deals on here but none that are not real!
I think for most of us a laptop is a fairly large purchase and a little bit of care and playing the waiting game could yield a huge saving. I'm not a fan of Currys but in fairness they have a wide range of stores to pay for with a lot of staff. They need to have a larger margin than many online retailers. I haven't bought much from Currys in my time and what I have bought was weighted towards the past rather than recent times. However I have got bargains from Currys and they did offer the best price at that time so always consider them. I bought 2 google nest minis and I think a couple of Xbox One games, Project Cars II and something else. All at a great price. They didn't honour the cashback on one of the purchases through topcashback I think which grated a bit.
BonzoBanana Price-wise generally, I've actually found them surprisingly competitive over the past few years for a few products. They have to be.
As with any large branded purchase it’s worth comparing all sites for the best deal including warranty. Currys were the best price when I needed to buy a kettle and completely replaced it when it broke with no quibble.
Currys Prime Promise is worth knowing about:

Don't forget they also offer free delivery on almost everything.
TheChimp That can also have a knock on effect to repairs where many repair companies don't have a listing for that product so simply suggest you contact Currys own repair agents which are often more expensive and less professional/competent. John Lewis do the same thing or used to with some products.
Hey terrygallagher
I think perhaps there may be a slight misunderstanding as to how Latest Deals works.
We're a community of deal hunters who share bargains they find with each other. When you search for something on LD you're searching all the various products people have shared over time. By default you'll see the most recent first but if you continue down the list it may be that you come across deals that were shared 2, 6 or even 12 months ago. In those cases the chance of that offer still being live is quite slim.
If you notice a difference in price between something on LD and the retailer's website please hit the three vertical dots and report the post so that we can update the price or remove it from the website.
Thanks!
