Should Cyclists Be Banned on National Speed Limit Roads?
Other
Just had a near miss with a car dangerously overtaking a cyclist on the over side of the rise on a bend. I understand the frustration though as they are going uphill and the cyclist was very show. I really feel cyclists should be banned on national speed limit roads as the can't get to that speed and just hold up the traffic and cause massive delays or people dangerously overtake! What are your views?
In my view, yes this very annoying for the driver.. But for the driver that decided to overtake at that point and nearly causing an accident is in the wrong.. That driver took the wrong decision to over take at that point.
As for cyclist being banned from national speed limit roads I think they need to introduce alternative routes or paths or lanes rather then banning.
The driver was completely wrong and took a stupid risk, I have felt like it though. Where I work the roads favour cyclists and it's alright. Just national speed limit roads I think it's just too dangerous and frustrating for the rest of us!
A ban would be highly unlikely. As Misky points out councils would need to provide alternative cycle lanes. This would be prohibitively expensive and a logistical nightmare.
Yes they should as it's very risky, well the most risk is with the cyclist whose body is unprotected, unlike a person caged inside a car.
In some countries and cities (villages not necessarily included), are making roads for cyclists but using the 'normal' one can be quite dangerous because cyclists are fragile and one bump can send 'em flying.
There's a lot of cyclists in UK who wear bodycams but they aren't always on the right and that evidence can even be used against themselves. Good idea, anyway.
Take a driver's license, buy a car, insurance and etc and use that instead if they really need a means of travel. It's also way more useful since you can carry about 3400kg of weight, just for example.
