Deals Posted by Different Usernames

Ask a Question

Is it me ? or is there something strange about 3 different usernames each posting 3 deals every night from Select Fashion ? Within about 15 minutes of each other ? Or am I getting paranoid ?

I recall a few years ago noticing a similar thing, I also noticed they took their holidays at the same time and made the same spelling mistakes.πŸ˜€

Yep , probably the same ones that I and a few others noticed . Of course it may just be that 2300 is the time the Select Fashion daily deals email goes out πŸ€”. But has stuck out like a sore thumb to me recently . Especially when at the end of April all 3 posted 3 New Look deals on the same days .

Before you name and shame them, please use the contact form. like the rest of us, and report your suspicions.

I think Golfforall has more sense than to name and shame anyone without absolute proof, there were, and probably still are, numerous "multiple name users" not all are easily detectable (so little point reporting) one I suspected admitted to using his neighbour's wi-fi (without their permission) would be extremely difficult to "nail" if he used different appliances. He seems to have disappeared now though, I can only guess his neighbours strengthened their wi-fi security, although the other name I suspect he used is still around.πŸ˜€

davidstockport My point was - that even by mentioning the brand that the deals were being shared from the member/s were, in fact, identifiable. This site has 1.8M plus active members but not everyone gets involved in the chat section but scan through regularly. Although I don't believe in naming and shaming I certainly wouldn't want any multiples to be forewarned that they'd been bubbled.

sunny101 I believe we have had this conversation before ? Perhaps a gentle nudge (that they have been rumbled) is just as effective at preventing misuse of the site than more draconian measures ?

To be fair it is more likely that they do not "use" the site apart from logging in for 5 minutes daily to click and paste their 3 a day so will not even see this conversation πŸ€”.

Golfforall I disagree with a gentle warning as these cheats are resourceful and I'd much rather they just be monitored until they claim their next 'reward' then get stripped of accumulated points, if not banned.

Yes, I have noticed this along with some newer posters acting exactly like previous posters who mysteriously disappeared.....

Unfortunately it seems that previously banned members are welcomed back here with open arms, I am sure LD is aware by now that he is back with his third account, pretending to be female again, but they won't do anything until he breaks any of the guidelines...

sunshinemum I'm not sure that they notice these things as we do as they probably don't monitor the postings, and especially the comps, that closely, unless they are entering them themselves which is when it becomes so obvious. πŸ”†

sunshinemum Well you and I know all the conversations here are monitored, they can see original conversations and adjustments, they are well aware of what is going on and choose to let things ride it seems, but why bother to ban people and close their accounts in the first place, these people obviously haven't done anything that bad to get banned because really, they are just welcomed back and given extra points to carry on as if nothing has happened, they are sticking 2 fingers up at LDs and getting away with it, and the constant re-posting of old freebies is doing my head in to be quite honest!! πŸ™„ x

JoTarpley Surprisingly the "multis " I mentioned in an oblique way in my post are now no longer members 🀐. I'm sure that all we have to do is to bring these abuses up in a roundabout way (without directly naming names ) and the LD team will act . After all it is surely not in the site's interests to have folks abusing the ethos of the site ?πŸ™„

Perhaps members of the team should spot this abuse before myself , act and publicise the fact to deter the many abusers we sadly have on this site ?

Hi I just seen this topic I usually don’t get involved with anything but after seen this topic I have to say I am always get shocked whenever I write comment in one user deal πŸ€”like if I write comment in Golfforall in your deal only you’re will get notification no one else knows but totally different here other user always replies even user tag me that user deal i don’t need to give name here as I already sent 5user names by email 2 are hiding behind but 3 are active members here no one noticed user who used to get one like there deals suddenly appear on popular page I know some might not happy after reading my comment but truth is truth one user stop posting boots deals now amazon on list in future if you’re need any proof I have lots nothing wrong in my comment I came here in your topic I am expected to not reply few.i think as a LD user I have a right to say something too. I am more then happy to reply any LD Team member thanks for creating this topic.some user do laugh on me even 5years old kid can write better English then me at least nothing made up in my comments I always says truth which is hurtπŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸ»

I think ,as normal users , it is hard if not impossible to "prove " some usernames are multis . However those of us who use the site properly are in effect the "eyes and ears " of Latest Deals and probably spot fishy things that the LD staff miss due to the sheer volume on the site .

I have used "Contact " in the past to report suspicious activity but received no acknowledgement . Some of the usernames appear to have ceased posting , others are still gaily carrying on .

All we can do is flag up "instances " (without naming of course) then the LD team , who have the members details and the relevant technology , can investigate .

This site is sadly filled with duplicate accounts including one user who posted above... Using Contact form is of no help and trying to expose them publicly will get you banned from commenting, which happened to me recently. They probably use a different IP at the time of registration so even if we know 100% that something is odd and someone's abusing the site, it will be very hard to prove it. And it's really not that hard to spot them: same types of deals shared, same grammar and style of the comments and the occassional mistakes like logging into the wrong account and posting a thank you comment under your own post πŸ˜‚

Morning all πŸ™‚

Please do let us know via the contact form about any accounts you think are suspicions - ideally including reasons why.

We always investigate any reports and, even if we aren't able to take immediate action, we'll typically put suspicious activity on a watch list (πŸ‘€). Our policy is to be really sure before banning an account as a duplicate as it would be really unfun for someone to be inadvertently banned and we always like to be able to fully justify any decisions we make.

Thank you to everyone for not naming and shaming individual accounts πŸ‘

I so wish I could mute some member's deals as those members post so many non-deals. I post probably no more than 1 deal a week as that is all I come across as genuine deals but see people posting so many awful useless deals on a daily basis. I have no problem with decent grocery offers but when you get Β£800 colour tv's with Β£10 off when a quick search shows the same set widely available for far less like Β£650 it is just useless. If I post a deal I normally google to make sure there is no better offer for such an item at the time.

I guess some people are determined to get those amazon gift cards and have zero regard for the site.

Totally agree , I have become really demotivated in posting "Deals" as so many members post 3 non deals a day (normally Amazon , Clothing chain sales etc ) where everything is always on "offer πŸ™„".

Unfortunately this also means that a deal will only be noticeable (on the "new" page ) for 15 minutes before it disappears into the abyss of the myriad of "non deals" never to see the light of day again .

Maybe from 20 odd deals a fortnight I'm down to 1 or 2 , What's the point of spending time finding and posting "real deals " (I type them all out , I don't click and paste ) when they are rarely seen for more than 10 minutes 😫.

Imnotcheap As always with on line shopping it's the total cost we should be looking at . I love gardening and nearly always there is Β£6.99 P&P to add - a fact rarely mentioned by Posters πŸ™„.When I post a Gardening deal I always point out the P&P and advise members that the deal is only really worthwhile if they are buying Β£20 + worth of other stuff in the same order .

Trouble is ,in this "click and paste" world few posters have the time to assist other members in this way (or perhaps care not to ?) 😏

Imnotcheap This really is becoming a joke! Someone has just posted the deal again - I'd love to know how this could ever be considered a good deal. 19p for the paper umbrellas and Β£3.95 for delivery.

Self promotion from brands is not accepted on Latest Deals and any accounts found doing so will be banned.

If you spot an account which may be doing it, you may use the report function to say so and we will review.

Thanks

Tom I might add I've noticed that most accounts that are created for self promotion are often (but not always) accounts created a very short time before the self promotion starts. I've also noticed that those accounts don't usually last too long.πŸ˜€

Hey, as Kelsey said above if you spot any accounts you feel may be duplicates of another you are welcome to contact us and we will review.

We have automated systems which prevent many duplicate account attempts, and manual processes we follow to review and ban any duplicate accounts we find.

We rely a lot on community self-policing, so if you do spot something, please do say via the contact form.
