Delivery Drivers Rant

Other

Rant alert yesterday I started by going round my dads he is on holiday but had package on door step. I spent rest of the day waiting for 2 parcels the first one was already behind our bins we still wouldn't know if today wasn't bin day. Then at 1.30 my Amazon parcel was 2 stops away I finally got it 7.30 at night 🤯

I got a email from my Hermes with a photo saying my parcel was delivered safely and it was not even delivered to my door it was delivered to a house 4 cul-de-sacs away, but the driver turned up at 8pm confessing that he delivered to the wrong address so I did eventually get my parcel 5hours later. They have even left parcels in my bin and sent a photo saying it was in a safe place, which is just as well or it would have went out with the rubbish

tara73ziva sometimes I get a notification from amazon saying my parcel is 2 stops away but it actually shows on the map its in Carlisle! Which is nearly 2 hours away from me. Its always Carlisle on the map so I'm assuming that's the amazon warehouse?? We do actually have an Amazon depot in our town it was built last year but don't think I've had anything that's come from there.

I'm still waiting on a parcel that was meant to be delivered on Tuesday. There was apparently an issue with the parcel, which has since been resolved but means it will be late. The issue was on their end, not mine. It is an amazon parcel but is being delivered by Hermes, I'm hoping it arrives today as my son can't go into his own room without it!

INTRIGUED - I've been trying to think what son could not go into own room without, I didn't think it could be a gas mask😀 or map, about the only sensible thing I could think of was some type of baby monitor.

If that's incorrect just say WRONG and let someone else perhaps lose some sleep trying to work it out.😀 MrsCraig

davidstockport it is indeed wrong. It was the extension for the babygate so he can't get downstairs if he climbs out of bed.

MrsCraig Thanks (I'll sleep tonight now😀) it would have made a good guessing game though, I'm reasonably certain others might have wondered what it was too. (They can also sleep well tonight 😀)

I had a damaged box being delivered but the nice driver told me to reject it which I did then it took ages to get refund. I wanted Holland & Barrett to send more because I used a good 25% discount code but they said refund.

I had a pair of slippers delivered by DPD. They threw them into the neighbours pond and claimed they delivered them to a safe location. They never even knocked and claimed they had.

That does seem a very safe location - who in their right mind is going to go into a pond to steal a pair of slippers.

I always wondered what DPD stood for could it be DEEP POND DELIVERIES? 😀 cocolgooh

I hate waiting for packages to get deliver and all the associated problems. If it's an option I now get them dropped off at a nearby shop, Amazon Locker, Royal Mail Delivery Office, etc for collection at my convenience.

Imnotcheap I call it dump it and run. They don’t even knock and leave parcels on doormat in full view. Royal Mail never used to do it but now they do too!

Been very lucky over past year, mostly come on time and put them where asked apart from a couple of timed Amazon driver left parcel outside, one of which would have to be the ultra heavy one....but out of dozens think that's excellent ...

I had an amazon parcel delivered a few days ago. I unlocked my door waiting for him to knock on when I saw a van pull up outside only for him to open My front door himself and pop his head in saying delivery!!! Complained to amazon they said they would look into it as the driver proberly might not know he isn't allowed to do that. Still not had a update from amazon.

We had this last week when my parcel was delivered to the wrong house. They sent a picture of some else’s front door. Luckily I managed to track down the door and get my parcel back.

Anyone had any issues with Hermes Delivery? My partner was expecting a delivery and they told him via email when the parcel was due. When it came to his time slot no knock at the door and no one rang the bell. He left it for a couple of hours and was about to contact the company and out of no where he decided to check door to see if they had left a delivery note or if any other post had come and parcel was already in his house. The door was closed but unlocked and more than just my partner in house and no one else had heard anything knock or ring. The delivery person had obviously tried the door handle and opened the door and let himself in and left the parcel on the floor a good 5/6 feet away from door and this isn't the first time delivery drivers have left themselves into his house to drop off parcels. About 2 years ago his aunt had some clothing delivered from George at Asda, my and my partner were sat in living room of his house and next thing I heard was blokes voice shouting parcels here and threw parcel across from front door to living room which was a good 15 feet. I asked my partner if he had heard the delivery driver knock on the door or ring the bell and he said no but did hear him open the door so i responded and asked that if had heard someone that was not expected to come and open the door why didn't he jump up and say something.

Sorry for this rant but anyone else has delivery drivers just enter the house?

jonesdemi321 I've not had this myself but know a few delivery driver's that are terrible. My mum once bought a rug for the living room and was at work one day when they delivered it. No one else lives with my mum so obvs no one at the address and the delivery driver thought it would be a good idea to leave a big rug costing over £100 in the front garden and my mum lives on a busy main road. Guess what happened, by the time my mum had come home and looked at the delivery note stuck through letter box the rug had been nicked from garden. My mum phoned up company she ordered it from and also delivery company they refunded my mum and sent her out a new rug which was delivered when she was actually in this time. The delivery driver from I heard didn't half get a telling off from his boss.

Imnotcheap jonesdemi321 Demi you need to start telling your partner to lock his door if this has happened more than once. They could end up stealing something out of your house without you even knowing.

Who would be a delivery driver ? Rubbish hours , rubbish pay and rarely a good comment heard about them . I always thank them and wish them a good day . I live in a supposedly "nice " area of a market town and there's been 2 delivery vans stolen in the last month (drivers left them unlocked while they walked 5 yards to front doors ) . What must it be like for those drivers in more dubious areas ?

My bugbear is delivery people leaving parcels on the doorstep when it's raining.

We have a large, printed sign asking that any parcels that don't need to be signed for, could they please place them in the unlocked porch.

Amazon seem to be the worst, and as the porch door opens outwards any parcel over a certain size means we cannot actually open the door.

I've raised the issue with Amazon, but I may just of well shouted it into the wind, as it's still happening.

The only time I have an issue with delivery drivers is if it's from Yodel. I absolutely hate when a seller's shipping option is Yodel, and at that point I'd rather it be sent to a collection point.

If they'd "deliver," they'd just throw the package inside the building and then leave.
