Does Anyone Here Believe That the Earth is Flat?
Ask a Question
Lately I keep seeing mentions about "flat earth"... there is a film on Netflix etc. Do you believe that earth is flat? To me it doesnt make sense. Because then the ships would just fall off when they reach the "end of earth"?! Plus we got photos made by satellites...? But each to their own...
There will be at least one. I know of a flat earth society in my nearest city. I also knew a couple who believed planes go up to create clouds and control the weather under government instruction.
Dennab wow. I never heard that before. Flat earth, that people never landed on moon etc yes but with planes making clouds...you learn something new everyday...
I would love to have a debate with someone who does think the earth is flat and get them to try a present some evidence to back up there claim
You can prove most things if you ignore things that disagree with your theory and manipulate other facts.
On plus side it makes amusing reading for people with any sense
Getsome I would like to ask what happens when you reach the end of it...do you just fall down? Or is there some path to walk under it..?
I do not believe the Earth is flat.....I'm interested to see if anyone here actually does believe that though, why they believe that, etc.
angelik it doesn't seem there is anyone on here but I seen a post on fb and the woman claimed that there is no proof photos that earth is round... and she picked up the theory on YouTube not from stupid TV which lies
I find it strange that some people still believe this. You just need to read a little on gravity and look at neighbouring (and all other) planets to see what shape they are. In 2017, former American basketball star Shaquille O'Neal stated that he believed the earth was flat. Later he said he was 'joking' after everyone called him an idiot. Although, at 7"1 he does see the world differently from most people - https://www.forbes.com/sites/trevornace/2017/03/28/shaq-thinks-earth-is-flat-because-it-doesnt-go-up-and-down-when-he-drives/
I've stumbled on and currently watching the Flat Earth documentary, Behind the Curve, on Netflix. There is a lot of infighting, disagreement and suspicion amongst believers. Some of them are convinced we're all living on a flat earth that is covered with a very large Simpsons Movie style clear dome. The film feels more like a mockumentary, because their theories are so wild.
I can’t say I personally know anyone who believes this. But each to their own. I’m sure they’re not likely to be sailors or pilots - if there are any, let me know...
Some people like to have opinions different from the norm even if the evidence is compelling. Lots of people have viewpoints though which aren't rational and have zero evidence to support them like religion for example. The evidence for evolution is compelling but that doesn't stop people believing in god etc. Ultimately people believe what they want to believe. When it gets weird is when you are discussing viewpoints and those with ridiculous viewpoints start getting angry then you have to carefully withdraw from the discussion.
I have come to the conclusion that some people talk such rubbish that it is not worth the effort even trying to discuss their ideas with them.
