Does Anyone Else Love House Renovation Shows?

Ask a Question

I absolutely love watching house renovation shows, especially the ones where they buy up a rundown house and then sell it for a profit. I watch the likes of homes under the hammer and the great house giveaway. I found a new programme the other day called Flipping Virgins. It's set in America and it was absolutely brilliant. It was like the great house giveaway, except the people paid for the house and the renovations themselves and the expert helped them to get it up to standard. It is on lifetime at 6pm.

Does anyone have any other house renovation shows they would recommend?

What do you think of this?

Yes, they definitely suck me in although I don't go out of my way to watch them. 60 minute makeover used to be on when I could view but I found I only watched the first and last 10 minutes, doing other things in between lol.

Just loved the before and after bits.

Lynibis I love seeing the before and after and how they managed to get there. I also love seeing how the homes are staged as it gives me inspiration for my place.

I used to watch 60 minute makeover when it was on, I was always amazed at what they got done in an hour!

I love these kind of shows. I like homes under the hammer. It’s great to see how run down a property is when they buy it at auction and what they do with it and the price increase when they are finished. It’s amazing what you can do on a budget if you do things yourself.

heatherduthie I totally agree. I am always amazed at what they can do on a budget and how they transform the house or flat. I really hope there is another series of the Great House Giveaway as I loved that show.

I only ever do small DIY jobs around the house.

I love this programme, another good programme I have found on Netflix is Living Mortgage Free with Sarah Beeney. Income Property is also good, it's American about people renting out their basements

George Clarke's Amazing Spaces is a really good program but I much prefer DIY SOS especially when they help families who have been struggling with disabilities and give them a new lease of life.

pato absolutely! Last time I watched an episode was when our son was seriously ill and waiting for his operation. I spent over an hour crying afterwards and my husband banned it from being on the TV!

MrsCraig I can understand why he banned it, when you've got a child needing surgery your mind starts to work overtime and tends to make you think, my son was in and out of hospital for 9 operations on his head, he's now hearing impaired but DIY SOS makes me think that things could've been a lot worse.

pato I had already prepared myself for the worst after talking with the surgeons. I still have to turn the channel when stories about sick or disabled children come on the news or an advert comes on, especially when they are anything to do with the heart.

9 operations is a lot, your son is incredible.
