Does Anyone Else Think Amazon Has Gone Expensive?

Ask a Question

Has any noticed amazon has gone expensive? if you google what you are looking for it’s usually cheaper somewhere else even if there is a delivery charge added on?

"Amazon" and "Expensive"

Made me think they may increase the price of Free Delivery from £19.99 to £29.99. It used to be free and then from £9.99, but as time went on they bumped it up.

I don't use Amazon that often so no point paying for Prime.

I mainly use Amazon warehouse which can be very cheap but pretty sure Amazon monitor competitor's prices and match them, as more competitors disappear their prices will get higher. No point discounting a product if there is no one else selling it cheaper. You see this all the time if Game prices a game cheaply they match it, if Argos discounts something Amazon match it etc. They did the same with older defunct brands Jessops, Comet, Toys R Us, Maplins etc.

Yes. I use subscribe and save and each month I have noticed the prices are creeping up. I have stopped a few items because I found I can get them cheaper on the high street

Yes and they have been for quite a while now. I only use amazon with vouchers that I get with survey sites who do not give paypal payments. I never would shop there if it wasn't for those. They are expensive and the delivery is totally erratic. The shipping updates mean nothing. They dump parcels anywhere - even just leaving parcels on the doorstep and driving off. I actually can't stand amazon anymore.

Amazon has a trick where they're meant to have the most popular items cheaper than the competition, to make you think you're getting the best prices there. Everything else is more expensive usually. The idea being you'll buy other stuff too because "it's cheaper" and that's how they make money. But then bargains are to be had with things they struggle to sell - these drop significantly to boost interest.

Some things are but some are really cheap. I think you do pay a bit more for convenience too

I use a Amazon price tracking site to buy items I want when they've gone down to the price I want to pay. I generally find tjis works out to be good value. I definitely think certain things like books are cheaper elsewhere. And agree that the shipping times are all over the place now, I've been really put off by this as the next day delivery was always a big draw for me, as was the digital credit for no rush delivery which they also stopped. I'm also finding that when people send gifts from amazon, they're kind of the same old stuff that's always turning up on daily deals and seems unpersonal.

It can be hit and miss. The prices can fluctuate so it’s more about getting things when the price drops opposed to getting things you need right away. I can’t fault their customer service - always sorting out any problems I have

Don't feel Amazon are as good as they used to be and certainly at the moment they are not even trying to compete with Tesco who are consistently cheaper on Christmas goods . Also don't feel Amazon customer service is as good as it used to be a few years back.

Amazon however is a complete one stop store and you can buy just about anything from them and usually get it delivered promptly which is their main advantage these days.

I usually find that ebay is far cheaper for a lot of items than amazon. I normally check both just in case! Only perk with amazon is it’s usually quicker delivery and I always find stuff well packaged and good delivery staff.

Amazon plays with the prices. Yes, before Christmas everything gets more expensive.

What I realized, they shift products from PRIME and they make them Pantry or Fresh so u pay delivery charge. They also started to put min amount on products....so far in last 3 days I ordered 2 things....which are 4 things....because only could order 2....u can not get one.

I was thinking what if I send back one after it is here?

They just got a bit naughty.....
