Does Anyone Receive the £10 Christmas Payment from the DWP?

Ask a Question

I was reading last night that the £10 payment every Christmas from the DWP was introduced in 1972 and has never changed . If it was adjusted via CPI it would be now a payment of £134 . Does anyone receive it and should the amount change or should the cost of living payments be continued after February ?

Most people on Universal Credit and/or pension should get the £10 but sadly it won't pay for much these days.A small turkey joint for 6 is £16 in Tesco but considerably more in Waitrose.

Yes, Mr T gets, or should I say, did get it last week. He was quite disgusted even though it is tax free! 🥴 Not worth having and not worth the cost of sending it to everyone - you can't buy much with it....

I get it because I'm now on ESA I've got it for along time. Would be nice if it increased but I think that's asking too much. It's bit like benefits it's self if you're lucky you get a increase of £1 a year.

I think it’s disgrace that a Christmas bonus introduced over 50yrs ago either hasn’t increased or just done away with. It probably costs them that much in admin fees etc to send it out to people so I think abolish it and stop insulting people or increase the amount even to £30 or £50

Never even heard of it, is it just for those on low incomes or benefits. Wouldn't even pay for the Turkey though I suppose it would cover the veg!
