How Does Everyone Feel about the Lockdown Easing?
Ask a Question
How is everyone feeling about the lockdown measures easing? Do you think itโs the right time or too soon?
AgnesFaludi Unfortunately, I think you could be right, which isn't good.... (But, it is brilliant)
No to soon needs to be after the summer holidays more people could die if they ease it now so Iโm not happy about the easing.
Sooo....who'd have thought when some of these were posted 8months ago, that we'd be still be here, stuck back in lockdown, and the bl**dy virus is mutating and become more virulent?....we definitely should not have eased first lockdown so soon then......
Caz2 When we first went into lockdown I put my support into the government because of the unique situation and stupidly thought we were going in the right direction with proper lockdown, restrictions at shops and furlough scheme. Then it started going downhill after eat out to help scheme, relaxed restrictions of 6 or more people, schools being reopened etc. I canโt see us coming properly out of lockdown until all the people who want a vaccine are given a vaccine and when that happens who knows. They have given out targets but I donโt believe they will be achieved after multiple failures previously.
Yes I couldnโt imagine that upon me setting up this post 8 months ago, we would find ourselves in yet another lockdown . Itโs not ideal but I just hope this time will be the last one! How is everyone coping? Itโs a very hard time for everyone
It should have been done correctly in the first place, otherwise we wouldn't still be having to do it 10 months later. Some countries are now essentially covid free because they locked down a lot sooner than we did as well as closed their borders. Also, the 'eat out to help out' scheme was a bad idea as it was far too soon. Having said that, certain members of the public are to blame also. All we can really do now is to rely on the vaccine. Once covid is more under control and enough people have been vaccinated, then we should ease this current lockdown. Hopefully, we won't have to do this ever again.
RegularComper90 yes fingers crossed! I completely agree! My friend lives in Australia and they had one case the other day and were in a 3 day lockdown! I do feel that not everyone is following the rules right now either which doesnโt help
They should make the vaccine compulsory (medical safety permitting) and also get started on a safety trial for giving it (in some form of dosage) to children too. They must have had trials of some kind for all the other vaccines they dole out to kids from a very young age, so this should be no exception.I'd say its essential.
Whilst I will happily be having the covid vaccine, I do respect peoples' choices not to have one. After all, it's up to the individual to decide on what goes into their own body. No other vaccine is compulsory, so why should the covid one be?
They can't make the vaccine compulsory, although I hope they make it very difficult for those who refuse it to enjoy the full benefits permitted to the vaccinated. As for children being vaccinated the main delay is on the testing (many children are voluntarily in trials). It is also very likely that an oral vaccine will become available, not just for children, possibly on a sugar lump as happened with the Polio vaccine back in the 1950s/60s.
I personally think that many of the anti-vaxxers will change their minds when they're found to be in the category that mainly die of it. Especially if one of the places they're not allowed to enter is a hospital.
davidstockport you may be right. And also if they cant go in pubs, on holidays (britain& abroad) and pretty much anywhere where crowds gather.(obviously the ones whom its unsafe for medically would have to be exempt in some way) maybe there'll be a nasal spray too for children like the flu vaccine?
Leonnie, i hope you got your freezer sorted out..AO.com are still delivering new ones i think, and perhaps currys too.
I really don't think lockdowns are working. People with nothing to lose are just ignoring them.
Does anyone have any idea on what % of the public need to vaccinated before lockdown can start easing?
Getsome Iโm not too sure but I think they want to get the first couple of criteriaโs filled on the vaccines so over 80s and 70s I believe
Not sure on the percentage but approx 15 million people is the target I believe for end feb. That will include all aged 70 & over, social ,health & care workers & all extremely vulnerable people under 70.
Itโs too early to ease the restrictions. Letโs wait for more to be vaccinated especially police and teachers and other keyworkers.
When the post you're commenting on was posted (nine months ago) there was no vaccine. Confusing innit!
Easying lmao we seem to have come outta by looks beaches Saturday wt a joke lockdowns not even lifted look at the state of society as if nowt happened PANDEMIC PEOPLE
If less people are dying because more have been vaccinated, why would we not go back to living our lives? I know of two people who took their own life after having mental health problems last year. Mental health is important too.
I agree entirely. I am not a 'conspiracy theorist' and have been following all the rules to the best of my ability since day one. But as far as lockdowns are concerned, I see no further need for them once the elderly and vulnerable have been vaccinated. I think after a whole year it's time to let people start living their lives again. We will eventually have to learn to live with this virus.
Flu can also be fatal, and we do not lockdown for that. Why? Because we have a vaccine for it, like we do now for covid.
RegularComper90 Same here. It's a real virus so I've been hardly anywhere and not seen my Mum for months despite her living around 15 mins drive away.
It'll get to the point where some people become agoraphobic though, if that hasn't happened already.
Feb 27 about a mile n half from the Covid testing site! Lockdown not happening for these people. Stupidity n Arrogance still good bedfellows then.
leonnie In that case, be cautious of what you believe in the media. It's a sad thing that we can't even trust a local newspaper anymore but their primary reason for publication these days is to get clicks. To be fair, that's how they make money as a business and business wins over journalism. When a local news website was publishing photos of Brighton last year, my sister was there, at that point so she showed me what the beach actually looked like. The photographer had made it look ten times more crowded than it actually was. They are paid to do that.
I do wish something could be done to make the date of the opening posting more prominent, . Here we are 3rd March 2021 - with people not noticing the easing of the lockdown referred to to was the first one LAST YEAR.
Anyone who doesn't believe in the resurrection should visit this chat forum.
davidstockport You don't need to go round explaining everything mr. We know. The discussion is now relevant again as we reach the end of another lockdown. Simple, ja?
Dennab It isn't relevant, the question asks about the lockdown that was ending last year (nine months ago) some answers being given are regarding the easing of the lockdown this year. Don't speak for everyone with the "WE" it is obvious that some people have been confused.
And please don't try to tell me how to act - if you have any complaints about me trying to help I suggest you report it.
davidstockport Oh David... It's a discussion that had evolved. Get over it Why would I report you? Nothing you have said is particularly nasty. It's just annoying when you go round this place instructing people how things work. It's patronising and just because you're the eldest, it doesn't mean you always know best. Maybe just let people have a discussion if they want to. Anyway, you can go off and bitch about me in another topic like you do with that other member you don't like mate using terms like 'I won't mention their name' when we all know who you mean. Try not to be so bitter
Dennab Some people need help in understanding how things work. Perhaps even you need help in understanding this. IF YOU HAVE ANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE WAY I BEHAVE TAKE IT UP WITH ADMIN using contact form. (that's what we're encouraged to do).
It isn't me being bitter - I can guess the reason you're being bitter - but can't mention it here. This topic, like others you've disrupted, would probably be removed.
davidstockport David, you are equally responsible for topics getting locked. You of course would never admit that because you run the place. Please stop using bold text and calm down if you want any respect from me. You're such an angry man.
davidstockport I just noticed that personal remark about me. Go on then David, please tell everybody. Why can't you mention it? Is it because your true personality will be exposed again?
Dennab IF YOU HAVE ANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE WAY I BEHAVE TAKE IT UP WITH ADMIN using contact form. (that's what we're encouraged to do).
davidstockport No cheers. I prefer to let people know directly about their behaviour being annoying and/or unacceptable. Call me a rebel... Anyway, it's been lovely chatting again. Regards to the Stockport Pyramid. Feel free to get the last word in and please make sure it's in bold and capitals so everybody can see it
Ps. Yes, you don't live there anymore. I know.
"Please stop using bold text and calm down" Bold text is not a way of expressing anger. Although BLOCK CAPITALS CAN BE - ALTHOUGH THEY CAN ALSO BE USED AS A WAY OF TRYING TO EXPLAIN TO THOSE. WHO DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT "IF YOU HAVE ANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE WAY I BEHAVE TAKE IT UP WITH ADMIN using contact form. (that's what we're encouraged to do). Means.
If admin want to know why I can't tell everybody. I will tell be only too happy to tell them, I might even get permission from them to tell everybody.
I'm feeling really optimistic, but then I have recently had my 1st vaccine and my husband is having his on Sunday. I feel there is light at the end of the tunnel.
But then I have been shielding for over a year.
It is really tough and hopefully this year things will get better. Round my area people donโt seem to be taking the lockdown that seriously
I think that now is the time to ease it and get all non essential businesses back open.
Back in the autumn, I did agree that another lockdown was needed including closing the schools for a few weeks. But now that we have a vaccine and at the success rate which it is going, I feel that now is the time to be slowly opening everything up again. We won't be able to experience the full effects of this vaccine until everything is more or less back to normal again and people are mingling.
Not really much point in the vaccine if we stay in lockdown.
I don't think lockdown should be eased until everyone who wants a vaccine gets a vaccine and currently they say they are on target for July 31st.
Itโs been more than a year now. People didnโt only loose job. But have their spirit broken too. Love to everyone
Love to you also.
Now that we have the vaccine and at the great success the rollout of it has proven to be, I really hope this is the last lockdown. Not only have people lost their jobs and have become depressed, the waiting list for vital operations, scans etc is growing day by day and others have succumbed to missed cancer diagnoses. It's very sad all round.
RegularComper90 I'm not sure you're right about the waiting list thing. I've had no issues whatsoever with both doctors' surgeries and hospitals. Both have given me appointments within a week or two. If something is important / vital, they will do it. I also saw a doctor respond to someone on Twitter who was making out that cancer patients were not being treated. He put them right ie. it's business as usual!
