Dog Caused Fire on Christmas Eve after Accidentally Turning on a Hairdryer

In the News

This is a warning to anyone who leaves appliances like hairdryers plugged in after use

The owners dog had jumped on the bed and apparently knocked the on switch on the dryer that was left there

It must then have overheated and caught fire

The fire brigade got there in time to put out the bedroom fire and luckily the dog was also ok

Do you leave your appliances plugged in ?

I have a phobia about doing this , even more so after reading the article

Besides i unplug those with displays to save on power , but would never think to leave a hairdryer plugged in , i even unplug the kettle

I don't believe this story at all. A hair dryer is impossible to be switched on without sliding switch unless a touch sensor one. Some people believe anything

Ann1984 The only thing about the story i thought strange A was that the hair dryer never cut out when left on, most new ones have this safety feature if they overheat , unless it was an old hairdryer

But i am sure a fire inspector could verify the cause
