What Are You Doing with Your Hair?
Ask a Question
So, I have a fringe which is now way past my eyebrows. I daren't cut it. I did however attempt a box dye on my roots which didn't turn out too bad but is definitely not up to hairdresser standards.
What are you doing with your hair? Has anyone attempted anything or leaving it to the professionals?
My hair is very easy to keep. It is shoulder length, I don't have a fringe, don't dye it and occasionally tie it up. I'm not worried about my hair during lockdown.
My mother in law gets her hair dyed by the hairdresser, who is also her mate, but she is just leaving them just now.
MrsCraig I did debate leaving it without dye but I got two inches of roots and decided against it!
rararachel think she had about 3 inches now! Her friend offered to make up the dye for her and drop it off at her door. She says she would need to get her husband to help do the back of her hair, we all laughed at that suggestion!
MrsCraig my brother in law highlighted my sister's hair using one of those DIY kits. He did a surprisingly good job!
rararachel well done him! The problem would be that my mother in law would be telling him what to do, going "are you doing this? Are you sure you are doing it right?" every few minutes and he would get annoyed and storm out leaving her with half dyed hair! She is just going to leave it at the moment.
My wife used the L'Oreal Paris Magic Retouch Instant Root Concealer Spray (that i found and posted!). I'm impressed! See: https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/deals/loral-paris-magic-retouch-instant-root-concealer-spray-20-off-hqhair
As to my hair, my wife cut it with a Philips Series 5000 Hair Clipper - these are hard to find in stock now. But you can look for any new Hair clipper deals here: https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/tags/hair-clipper
Being old and a man, I don't really give a monkey's what my hair looks like, especially under lockdown.
I've got a set of Wahl clippers and the wife takes great pleasure in experimenting with styles.
First of all, she gave me a Mohican and on Saturday she shaved the top off and just left a tuft at the front. With the back and sides, she's done it really short at the bottom and left it a bit longer towards the top.
I don't know what she's got planned for next time. Not really fussed to be honest.
I've watched some YouTube videos on cutting fringes and not one turned out successful. TheChimp you need to put some photos up.
Well I'm using the good old clippers and the live hair dye to cover my grey lol I'm a bit of tom boy so I got really short hair the way I've felt up and down in mood shouldn't matter how look as long got great personality I lack confidence big time dosent mean I haven't got great personality and sense humour x
I have a simple bob style with a loose fringe. It’s easy to keep this style and I’m confident trimming it and encourage my husband to cut the back. Keep on doing your own hair at home it’s far easier than visiting a salon.
Nothing whatsoever. I’m barely washing it. It’s a tad greasy, but I can’t care about such things right now
I trim my fringe regularly that way it doesn’t go wrong, leave it to long, then that is when it becomes difficult to get it straight I also dye my own hair but being on lockdown it gives my hair a rest as i am not going anywhere.
So, like, sort of, like, so, I don't care what I look like because it's been less than two months and people seem to be acting like we've been in lockdown for a year.
My wife gave me a cut last week, surprisingly pretty good effort. Grade 2 sides blended in and with a grade 4 on top. So pretty short but looks decent enough blended in. I'd give her a score of 8/10. Good effort. Now my hair is short again I'm hoping by lockdown ends and barbers allow one or two in at a time my hair will be in need of a cut again
I'm just tying mine up so it's not causing a problem really. My kids have curly hair so it's easy to cut without needing to be very precise. My husband's looks a less and he's still undecided what to to about it.
I have a fringe but I’ve cut it myself for many decades which is better than any hairdresser has ever done on it too due to cowlicks in it.
ive always had it look worse if I let them do it lol
I was due for a hairdresser appointment during the week before lockdown (the previous cut being in January) but cancelled it, so now I look terrible... Yes, I really do! I have cut my fringe, but wish I hadn't, I have to let the rest grow as Mr Tumblespots would be a maniac with the scissors, far worse than me... I have considered using the clippers on the whole lot so that I don't have to worry. To be honest, a decent haircut is the thing I miss most, well, that and some flour!
I’m trying to buy a hair trimmer but they are sold out everywhere, does anyone know where I can buy one
My hair is starting to look a mess now, I normally get it cut every 3/4 weeks, it's now 7 weeks since I've had it cut.
Just cut my fringe this morning, annoying when it starts to go in your eyes. I normally have a haircut every 6 weeks but have always trimmed my own fringe confidently. My partners easy, clippers, job done and never any complaints.
I'm ok with cutting my fringe (my hairdresser disagrees ) but not the rest. I'm lucky it grows fairly straight and I can bob it in a ponytail but I really can't wait to cover up my grey bits!
ive made my mum cut mine, ive bleached it twice and (when it arrives) ill be dying it pink. this is fairly out of character for me since i only wear black and stuff hah
