Donating to Charity This Christmas

Any recommendations? I will choose to donate around £5000 to one charity but it must be reputable and I would like to see results of where the going is actually going towards.

That's not funny since donations given to charities helps those who are dying of disease. Is that funny?
jakemoss maybe I should report you for being a braggart who obviously doesn't know when to stop and also have no proof of your butler, chef, 5 bedrooms, 16k per month, caviar for 3k etc.

jakemoss no law against blatant lying, no maybe not. but you are inviting replies by posting outrageous comments so how is that harassment?

Incidentally I was aware of Cystic Fibrosis I used to entertain children with CF at a children's hospital for many years at Christmas - it was heart breaking many years when many of the children from the year before were missing.

davidstockport Well thanks for letting us know your purchase of Savile Row suits from charity shops helped fund that children's hospital. Also I wasn't trying to be funny, this is a serious topic but you thought otherwise as evident from your initial post then tried to downplay it. Anyway, as long as it helps fulfill your quota of 5 comments a day for 20 points each I suppose you're happy, right?
jakemoss I thought at first you had delusions of grandeur now I realise you're simply deluded. Nowhere have I mentioned my purchase helped children's hospitals. The only thing I donated to the children's hospital was my time. I didn't brag about that - I didn't mention my services were free.
jakemoss I don't post five comments every day and am not interested in points. I (unlike yourself) try to remain civil towards other posters - and can accept obvious jokes. You think you're funny - I thought so at first... I now realise you're about as funny as a guide dog with rabies.
davidstockport Not really funny since rabies has been practically eradicated in the UK, in fact that's rather morbid to even consider as a joke. I hope that's not how you entertained kids at the children's hospital! As a parent I would have put in a complaint with the manager!

davidstockport Sad that a bit of banter went south. I suppose the written word has no dialect or inflection and therefore cannot be judged as it is spoken. It is refreshing to know that you are aware of CF - you wouldn't believe how many people think it's 'just a bit of a cough'. Nice to hear you were pro-active. x
jakemoss I know rabies isn't funny (especially in a guide dog) I was comparing a guide dog with rabies to YOU.
Most of the kids I entertained (average age perhaps about seven) were obviously a bit brighter than you and wouldn't have needed it explaining to them that guide dogs with rabies are not funny.

davidstockport the latest is an old heirloom diamond circa 1541 handed down by a distant relative, but other details are a bit sketchy. It's a shame that those of us who make normal friendly comments receive hostility, a defence mechanism used when people are caught out, and has definitely spoiled for me a chat arena which I felt was far more rewarding than Facebook.

I offered to kneel down to your level and try to be civil yet you keep igniting the fire. Keep it coming then.
I regularly raise money and donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. CF affects around 10,000 children and young adults in this country and is a life limiting disease. Imagine breathing in through a squashed straw and that is the nearest experience to living with CF. The sufferers literally fight to breathe. I find it rather sad how little is known by the general public about this gene based monster. The Trust funds research for a cure and the clinical care of patients with this awful disease. The hospital stays are frequent and debilitating. Even one pound makes a difference.
There’s lots of worthy causes and that’s a generous sum that you could split between a few. With their being so many charities around I suggest you look into something you feel a personal connection too/feel strongly about. Maybe something even in your local community? Have a look at what’s going on in your area and how you can help out.
As someone who used to work for a large charity I honestly doubt you’ll find out exactly where your money has gone other than a generic pie chart of where funds are spent. However you may be able to specify that your money goes towards a specific project 
jakemoss maybe my cynicism comes from all your false posts. If everything you have written on here is true you would not feel the need to brag and try to put everyone else down. You obviously have a sad life where all you can do is bait others. Either that or you are 15 years old. If you worked for your 16k you wouldn't spend so much time on here.
jakemoss oh, and if you organise fund raising events you would already know where it is going and not intimate in your opening post that you are donating 5k of your own money with provisos.

Initially we decided a charity related to health so still deciding which one to choose.
Since you've never taken part in one nor ever donated a penny to charity, you would have no experience dealing with such situations anyhow.

jakemoss So if you think that posting pictures wouldn't convince anyone... here's a suggestion: Why not POST a cheque for the £5K - to someone trustworthy (perhaps Tom) let him pay it into his account he can then (if it doesn't bounce) donate it to the charity you choose.
THEN WE'LL ALL BELIEVE YOU!

jakemoss I didn't TELL you what to do I do realise you're probably of subnormal intelligence but if you get someone to explain it to you will find there is a big difference between SUGGEST & TELL.
I thought I was being very helpful SUGGESTING a way you could convince people you weren't a person with only delusions of grandeur. (and a very nasty nature - the way you reacted to Lynibis brought me to that conclusion).
Here's another SUGGESTION - why not see how you could, by reconsidering my earlier suggestion, perhaps prove all those who doubt you wrong.
In other words "Put up or shut up!"

It is often a sign of desperation (or paranoia) when people insist they've been TOLD to do anything.
The closest I've come to telling you anything is to "Put up or shut up!" but that's more of an exclamation than a command.
How about I just agree with you? I bet it would give your fragile ego a boost. Since clearly you are a bigot who totally disregards what others say and you always have to be right.
Like I said, I'm born and bred in the UK, have been through the British education system up to PhD level, no need to tell me what the past tense of tell is. I'm not in primary school. That's something I learned and knew about 40 years ago.
