Double Decker the New Minibus?

In the News

All Cadbury chocolate bars sold in multipacks will shrink by the end of 2021 to reduce their calorie count, owner Mondelez has announced.

As is if we have enough going on with covid, blm, redundancies, duplicate posts and now this!!!!

The product size will reduce but will the price?.....................no!

you can usually pick up a four pack of bars in one supermarket or other for £1, just eat 2.

Ann1984 I've been told if you open a multipack it's law that you have to eat them straight away. 😀

I usually buy the big bars or share bags open them and keep in tub so I can get a couple of pieces at a time. I hope they don't shrink. I would have to buy more.

Could they not keep bar same size and try actually lowering the calories in each bar.🤔

I genuinely came into this thread thinking double decker buses were going to be the new minibuses because people would be so well spaced on the bus that a double decker could only take about 12 people.

Not surprised about Mondelez reducing sizing, they push quality and sizes down to just the point before people stop buying the product. Lots of generic chocolate shop branded etc is just as nice and far better value. We need to stop supporting these companies but admittedly I'm a fan of double decker bars myself but not if their pricing isn't fair.

Louise Stigant, UK managing director at Mondelez International said "we must play our part in tackling obesity and are committed to doing so without compromising on consumer choice". Absolutely no one is going to believe that is their motivation. Cadbury multi-bar packs have already shrunk too much over the years. It's getting ridiculous now 🍫

If we all ban ourselves from buying them in the shops, do you think they will fall into the hands of the clearance websites? Maybe if that happens then you can buy a load of them at a knock-down price along with other things to make the delivery cost worthwhile. Cut Price Barry's?

The only surprise here is that they have said they are going to do it (albeit for completely ridiculous reasons!) Usually the chocolate companies, and other companies too, reduce the size by stealth for the same price, or even increase the price, and they hope you don't notice! 🐞

It's basically to please the shareholders and increase their share value, little consideration seems to be given to the people who buy their products, we are just idiots to be taken for granted extracting as much money from us as they can. That seems to be Mondelez management style. Maybe I'm alone in this but combining products made of fat and sugar and getting something enjoyable to eat is not exactly difficult but even so they have been reducing the quality of cadbury products in order to increase their margin and so I think Cadbury is losing its high quality status. Which means many Cadbury products are now directly competing with much cheaper products of similar quality.
