Drivers Who Enter the Wrong Number Plate When Parking Will No Longer Be Fined
Money Saving
Drivers will not have to pay parking fines of up to £100 for entering their number plate incorrectly when buying a parking ticket
Motorists who accidentally enter the wrong number plate when buying parking tickets will no longer be fined under new rules.
Great news and a minor victory. There has been a 'no discussion' policy from the enforcement agencies when genuine mistakes have been made and it's not difficult to understand why the errors have happened. I've witnessed many people blinded by the screen glare because it has been positioned in full sun with no hood protecting it or the plasma/digital screen has damage to it rendering the image virtually broken up and unreadable.
I just found it hard to believe that there was no leeway before this as it is so easy to hit the wrong key on those small keypads.
tumblespots I believe the agencies had a no leeway policy because they were making easy money. Up until now, even having a printed ticket didn't cancel the issue.
I’ve actually entered my car reg incorrectly at the cinema car par and realised after the film. Spent ages on the phone as soon as I got home. Fortunately I didn’t get that dreadful letter with the fine but others have!
It's a good job you hadn't realised during the film or you would have just worried all the way through it! Glad you didn't get a ticket.
Actually, drivers will still be fined for entering their number plate incorrectly.
Drivers will be required to challenge the fine, but under the new rules the penalty will be cancelled at the first stage of appeal, provided that only one digit was wrong, or that the digits were entered in the wrong order.
Thanks very much for the clarification Johnny I just copied over the headline from the article, but you are right
