Dual SIM Phones and Signal Strength
Ask a Question
Does anyone have a dual SIM phone?
I was recently gifted a second-hand one and it’s very handy. Instead of carrying two phones about, I need only carry one.
Odd though that when I insert two SIM cards from the same network provider, one has a far stronger signal than the other. Is this normal? Do you experience the same variation in signal strength despite being from the same network provider?
I'm not sure why the signal was less unless one sim is operating on lets say 4G and the other 3G or perhaps it was a provider where the backbone network was previously a different network but they changed to a different backbone but older sim users are still using the older partner backbone network. Maybe I'm remembering wrongly but I think some virtual networks like giffgaff may have changed the actual partner network they use. I'm with Lebara who use Vodafone.
I now have a dual sim phone, my last phone was dual sim but only if you sacrificed the micro sd slot which I didn't want to do but my new phone is dual sim and has a separate micro sd slot.
BonzoBanana ah, that makes sense, they are both Sky SIM cards but one is approx 2 yrs old and the other is about 3 months old. I think Sky piggyback off O2 but I could be wrong. Weird though.
