Do You Still Buy DVDs & CDs?
Ask a Question
I was talking to my 23 old son telling him that I had bought my husband the complete series of Rab C Nesbitt for Christmas & he said no one buys DVDs or CDs, as nowadays people just stream them. Am I really out of date or do you still buy these?
I still purchase DVDs regularly. I have a huge collection and love adding to it. I like having a physical copy of movies and TV shows. I must admit that most of my music listening is done online/on my computer these days so I don't really purchase CDs anymore.
It's a while since I bought any DVD's or Blu-rays but I still buy music on physical formats. Streaming is fine and I use Spotify a lot. I still enjoy buying music though and like to support the artists.
Recently I purchased MacBook and I was shocked that doesn’t even have a slot to put cd /dvd in . Unfortunately I have to agree with your son, they are slowly disappearing.
My 17 year old buys CDs and vinyl and streams. Yes she buys same songs on all
I buy blurays of my favourite films but stream others
We have loads of them and buy more from time to time. We watch dvd's most of the time as the TV is so cr*p. We have even more CD's too which we loaded into a 'Brennan', we can now select what to play without using the discs and make playlists in it to.
We don't set much store by streaming - you don't have anything physical?!
I still love cd and dvd and have a large collection the it used to be my weekly treat after work on a Friday I'd go to the music shop to get a new cd of course the shop is long gone
I only buy a dvd if I love the series or movie. I do find that streaming services are unreliable and often get rid of my favourite shows and movies from their platform
CDs I do, but for DVDs I'd rather go with NTSC over PAL, but most of the time the difference is negligible.
I still buy dvds. I have recently bought supernatural and family guy series on dvd and always buy cds
I own a massive CD and vinyl collection. I still buy both, mostly secondhand. Your 23 year old son is part of a generation who are willing to pay money on a monthly basis for something they'll never own. When the Internet goes down, who's winning?
That's great to hear your daughter streams Imnotcheap. So do I.
"vinyl tbh because the quality is so much better on CD or MP3"
Vinyl is about the same as CD. MP3 is outdated. TheChimp
I don't but my daughter is a huge collecter and watches them too. She's just set up home and every room has shelving full
My husband still regularly buys cds (think he must be one of the few!) but we don’t bother with dvds when there are so many films on Netflix and sky and dvds are so expensive considering!
No. They take up so much space and you never get round to watching them. But I know people who collect series of shows, so they do make good gifts
