I think it did, but so did other things. Social distancing guidelines are being ignored more and more now. It all happened too soon- the Eat out to help out scheme, reopening pubs, the shops relaxing their rules on how many people can be inside, etc.

Everything nowadays is "COVID death related" or something. This has become a numbers game for the media.

Probably, but it was still necessary to encourage people to go out and spend money. Otherwise even more businesses will permanently close. There isn't a good solution to the current situation. It's about finding the least worst option 🍨

i agree but now those businesses are suffering even more as in hospitality for some areas are only allowed takeaway and have to close at 10pm making the profits decline

Its people not being safe while doing this. Washing hands etc. I went to a cafe when first reopened. No staff were wearing masks. No screens at till. Toys sitting in a basket for kids. How often is that going to be cleaned.if we all clean hands, clean regular touched surfaces regularly well ventilate, social distance where appropriate. We should be able to get on with life's more or less. We have to watch out for our loved ones.

yes as alot of people in a closed space with no masks on is definitely going to increase the covid rate

Yup, absolutely, it was purely money over safety and encouraging people to go out and places to be busy

I didn't participate in the eat out to help out scheme because I was worried about catching the virus in that sort of environment. I heard there was an outbreak in a restaurant near where I live because someone coughed near a fan and the fan blew the particals to the other side of the room. Over 30 people caught it

It probably did unfortunately, I've not participate as I don't trust people enough! I walked past the local pub and the staff was wearing his face shield on the top of his head instead of covering his face...

Yeah it probably did to a degree but such viruses spread more easily as we move into colder temperatures. The current situation is far worse as is normal for other viruses like the flu. People's vitamin D levels would have been higher back then and the virus load would likely be less. It definitely would be a lot worse if they ran that scheme now. As ever balancing the economy vs health is not easy especially as they are directly related, so many variables to calculate and try and come up with the best options.

Yes,I believe it did how could it not contribute.I work in a restaurant and it was absolute hell on earth. The restaurants made record sales for those 4 weeks and it made social distancing virtual impossible!?

No masks were mandatory and no checks made by the council, funny enough some tables have now been removed, masks are mandatory and checks are now only being made this is too late am afraid!!!!!!😡
