Eating on the Street
Ask a Question
is eating on the street common? I dont think I have done so since a child as my mum always told me it looked common but now with all the street markets has it become ok or did you always think it was ok to eat as you walk about?
Like a lot of things in society this is a generational thing. I was brought up never to eat or drink in the street, although there seemed to be drinking water fountains everywhere. However, I have accepted it as part of life and have been known to buy a sandwich myself and sit on a bench to eat it, especially if I skipped breakfast.
What I do hate though, is seeing anyone drinking from a can of beer whilst walking through town, there is absolutely no excuse for that and I feel like dashing it out of their hands!
cannot bear this either.....usually shirtless.....smoking....and around or in charge of kids- near roads eeeek no my inner OCD diva cannot cope!
I'm quite old fashioned. I don't see anything wrong with someone sitting at a bench in town eating but I absolutely hate seeing people walking along stuffing their faces. It's a pet hate and the sin of all sins is when they are walking along eating and talking oer eating with their mouths open exposing their half eaten food
Just reading this made me do a little warning retch hiccup..........The only thing that should be seeing your half destroyed food should be your stomach!
OneeyedRaven exactly, well I'm glad to have turned your stomach this morning as well as my own, lol
Janhrrs I should be a stick insect with all the walking talking human cement mixers I see each day!
I think it become like this because of the time issues....everyone is running and they have food on the go.
Effect of the West World....the food is made for the run too .
so true and seems to be more and more of it every month. This is a huge contributor to why we are becoming obese as we dont recognise a meal has been eaten or let our bodies register how many calories we have taken in so often eat more more frequently. Its children I worry about.
I personally dont like to walk around eating, mainly because I feel like I would drop it, walk into someone and not enjoy it as much... I find it hard to multitask
sarahgreen15 so me. I would probably end up covered and or hitting a sign post.....probably while workmen watched laughing! I should bubble wrap myself from life.....
It doesnt bother me if i see people walking around eating. My wife loves to walk along the sea front with a bag if chips. I cannot walk and eat at the same time though, its too much all at once id rather sit in the car.
It doesn't bother me at all. People don't have time sometimes, I often take a 15 minute lunch break at work because there's too much to do and if I have to go out to get my lunch, I eat it on the walk back. I don't see what the problem is or what the solution would be for me in that situation.
Some people don't have time for a sit down lunch at (or away from) work. I used to do it, eating as I walked back to the office, but no more.
Only time I eat in the street now is at food festivals, or I guess on holiday with ice cream or some kind of takeaway food like chips (not a full on kebab or something - too messy!).
I prefer not to do so, but walking and eating is sometimes done together to save time, especially during short breaks. And it’s done extensively when I’m away in street food markets
I don't have an issue with people eating on the street. If I'm hungry and on the move I'll grab a sandwich or something similar to eat. If I'm not pressed for time the only food I tend to eat while walking is a bag of chips or ice-cream
