Do You Enter Competitions Even for Things You Have No Interest in Winning?

Ask a Question

I know we have a lot of regulars who enter a lot of competitions. Just wondering if you guys enter every competition you see even if the prize is something you don’t want or have no use for?

Pinkspirit One of my comping pet peeves is that there are hardly any solo holiday competitions. They are usually for couples or families with kids. It would be nice if they offered more for those who are single and childfree, or just simply would like to spend some time on their own for a couple of days.

I only enter competitions where I would actually want to win the prize. I don't see the point in entering a competition that I wouldn't want to win.

MelissaLee1 yeah that’s what i do now, when i started using the skyvip app i entered everything but some things i wouldn’t want to do even for free so seemed pointless and also a bit selfish.

I’ve recently started entering competitions but only go for things I or my family would love to own.

there are so many competitions that I dont have the time to enter them all so I now just go on the prize. We do look for holiday prizes but it has to be worth the effort in getting there so either within Devon & Cornwall for one nighters, or further if its for three or 4 days at least. I am a sucker for food and drink prizes so enter loads of them!

didbygraham The worse ones are where the prize is for one or two nights in Mauritius or the Maldives for example , it takes you a day to get there and back and who would go all that way for even just two nights ??

I am sure the competition providers know this and expect the entrant to pay for extra nights to make it worth it, thinking they should be grateful that the air fare is paid for

I only enter for those that I would actually like to win. I think it would be unfair to enter for a prize I am not interested in as it would be unfair on those who would like to win it. Comping can also be time consuming which is another reason why I spend my time entering only for things that I would like to win.

I would only enter a competition if I knew I would use or want the prize or know someone that I could give it awat to if I won.

I usually only enter a competition for something I would like to win. But I do every competition in the Take a break magazine and to be honest do not look at the prizes. I have been entering for years and two weeks ago I actually won, £20, unfortunately that is no where near how much I have spent on the magazine. But a win is a win.

I have been entering competitions for some 40 years and during that time I have won all sorts of things including a trip to Thailand for two.At that time I had two small children and the prize destination wasn’t really suitable for a family.I entered anyway and amazingly I did win.I wrote to the promoters and explained that I had small children and it would be difficult to go to Bangkok and to my great surprise they sent me vouchers for a holiday of my choice. I chose to go to Fuerteventura at Christmas which was the most amazing place to go and the children loved it.

The point is enter as much as you can and manage the prize when it arrives.!

brianbritonhove Most of the time it isn't luck B, its the frequency you enter the competitions

Some people say i never win anything but hardly ever enter anything

I am afraid its perseverence that rewards, and not giving up when you are not winning

I have had my worst dry spell recently if you count last year and this , i have won a couple of small prizes but nothing worth talking about and i invest a lot of time entering comps

I could easily say enough is enough and stop , but it just takes that one time to win a big prize

Believe me everyone has the potential to do this , but you need to stick at it

For me there's nothing more satisfying than waking up to that magical e mail or phone call to say you are a winner

And yes, i do enter most where there is a physical prize, if i dont want it i give it to a family member or friend , and dont forget even where the prize is a pair of tickets for something, even if you cannot go because of the date, you can still give the other ticket away , it is only normally one ticket that has your name on
