Entertainment for Kids during 6 Weeks Holidays. HELP!!
Help
Hi all!!
My first chat so be kind! Lol
My son and daughter are on the dreaded 6 weeks holidays!
Their favourite phrase so far has been "we're bored"
I need to keep them entertained and as everyone with children know, Entertainment is expensive!
Has anyone got any ideas or suggestions where I could take them or what they could do on a budget or any good offers/deals about?
Any ideas or suggestions please would be greatly appreciated x
Hi SoniaRani
Welcome to Chat!
I'm giving your post a bump as no one has responded yet to your brilliant question.
It might help a bit to know whereabouts you live. Meanwhile here's a few ideas
I recommend you take a look here:
https://www.latestfreestuff.co.uk/free-days-out/
There's lots of ideas, and it also tells you how to get a Free Blue Peter Badge for Kids that'll get them free entry to loads of attractions
Loads of Museums are free entry
Pick your own fruit and veg is fun to do (especially strawberries!)
For rainy days the DK Lego books are great and I recommend
365 Things to Do with LEGO Bricks: With activity selector and timer

You can also get 2FOR1 entry to attractions when you travel by train. More about that here:

Or make a tent with your washing line and a sheet. That's always fun. Let the kids work out how to do it!!
Whatever you do, have a great day out, or in!
Johnny
If you fancy a walk around London's West End seeing a lot without spending much - I've written something about that, here: https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat/london-bargains-help-needed
not sure where u r, but there is bound to be a museum near you the majority of them are free take a packed lunch and go there for the day! me and my daughter always enjoy going walks through the woods collecting sticks and stuff, building dens etc! x
Dens! Great idea NicolaMcCourt
I'll never grow out of building dens!
Perfect for also keeping Dads entertained during the holidays...
Johnny I do them with my daughter all the time! we r lucky as we have woods right next to our house!
Johnny my daughters dad had the day off work last week and he was in the woods for hours helping her build it!
or we have movie days we bring the mattress down stairs and watch films all day! home bargains r very cheap for sweets pop corn candy floss etc most r 29p each!
I've been down to come bargains and bought popcorn. The one u stick in the microwave and it 'pops' in the bag. 4 for £1! X
Surprised this isn't a more popular post as me and my partner always struggle for things to do in the summer holidays with our 2 as everything g seems to be so expensive
we some times go insect finding! we take a bucket and go through the woods and we both have a comp on who can find the most/strangest insects or worms! we take them home in the garden and build little homes for them and feed them etc! my daughter spends hours checking on them and the next day we will set them free (where we found hem of course)
There are a lot of competitions for kids online, like stabilo has my Summer drawing contest on facebook, you need to print the page and I also saw somewhere else that kids can write a small novel and enter to competition.
It is worth to have a look on these because they can get prize and they will be happy to do it.
I saw there are so many creative packs for kids u can order, there is a baking subscription online for kids....lots of stuff....
Also u can check around the area, in London councils make pools for kids and sandy beach, maybe u can find something in your area.
I gotta tip my (non-existent) fedora hat to you for not simply giving your kids an iPad/PS4 and call it a day. Now, that's quality parenting that actually care about their kids' childhood.
Anyway, other members already gave advice though if you can, the French countryside is a wonderful place to spend vacations at.
Take a walk along the canal - there are always barge people happy for the children to help open the locks. Go to the woods/park and do a scavenger hunt - eg collect 4 different leaves, find a yellow flower etc or take a small paint kit/felt tip pens with you and find flat stones to paint and then leave them hidden around the area for other children to find. Get a cheap net and a bucket and head for the local pond/river, kids are fascinated by what they can find.
That's a good idea. Thank you. Supposed to be nice this weekend too So will pop down the park xx
I've just got back from a weekend away with the kids at Bournemouth beach! That beach is absolutely lovely. Clear blue sea, beautiful sand. and the weather was perfect
Took 3hours to drive from Birmingham though but was a great weekend away! Now just to sort out another 4 weeks of holidays!
