Epidural - How Long for After Effects To Go?
Ask a Question
My bundle of joy at last arrived yay I had an epidural... but now my back seems to be seizing up at times... at times I get shooting lower back pain...if you had one before how long did it take for the symptoms to disappear?
One of my family members had one a couple of years ago. It took her about 2-3 weeks before everything started to clear up and her body started to recover. Congratulations on your new baby
Congratulations! Hopefully Iβll be next, Iβm getting so uncomfortable now! Iβm in two minds about getting an epidural and really hope I can avoid it as ive heard of a lot of people having complications
sarahgreen15 good luck hopefully everything will go well for you. If done correctly epidural can be a good thing... especially first time I was getting induced and then theres very high chance of c section...and then theres only short window and then it's too late for epidural and you would have to have different drugs instead which has side effects too... for me this is my second c section so it might be why I'm getting all these side effects...my advice for you in case you'll end up getting csection- ask for catheter out asap and try to get moving too... it helps you get back on your feet much quicker
Many congratulations BlueOrchid! Hope you are both doing well and the problem with your back goes soon.
gerrykelly25 second but it's a rainbow baby...following a miscarriage at 7 weeks...
BlueOrchid he will be very special then!
I hope the effects of the epidural have worn off and the midwife reassured you?
gerrykelly25 yes thank you its just the swelling on my tummy left now... but I still got to have 2 shots of blood thinner in my tummy ...and by now its so bruised and sore that theres hardly any unbruised space to stick a needle in. My needle phobia isn't helping....
Congratulations!
I also had an epidural. The pain shouldnβt last too long. If you are concerned then always speak to someone professional.
Congrats! I had an epidural, but I didn't get any lower back pain. Or I maybe didn't notice because I had pain from the c section! But it shouldn't last too long. If worried talk to a professional.
I have some side effects...different than yours, the doctor told me it should go away till November, if not than there is a bigger issue...
But before they give epidural they make u sign a contract kind of thing, which list the side effects and some people have pains forever...it can be a permanent condition...lets hope the best is not.
AgnesFaludi the midwife is coming today to check me and the baby. I'll ask her about it. Oh I know I signed it... but I only remember the worst of it...I was very anxious and scared about the baby being ok...I had very complicated miscarriage last year which nearly killed me so I was very scared throughout that something might happen again to me or the baby...
Thank you allme and my baby boy are doing well. I forgot what sleepless nights does to you...and I dont know how I used to party all night and still be at work in the morning
