Essential Workers and Their Families Can Order Tests Online from Friday
In the News
According to news from The Telegraph, essential workers and their families will soon be able to order tests online.
Is the test for if they have it or for the antibodies?
Because if it's the former, there's no real point.
Heard that they have had a lot of demand (duh) and they've closed applications already...?
That's because its free ! Apparently there is no requirement on the form to prove you are a Key worker or have had the symptoms , so the intellectually challenged are gleefully booking a test whilst Key workers (probably actually working !) find the site is full for the day when they try to get a test .
It will be interesting to see how many of the 20,000 plus who booked tests yesterday ;-
a . Are Key Workers ?
b . Actually turned up for their booked test !
Golfforall interesting. I've not seen the form, but it's certainly meant to be a requirement that you have the symptoms - at least that's what the email to me said (I'm eligible, if I get symptoms).
MeestairChrees That's what I thought too , but there have been several people on the radio and tele saying that there is no requirement on the on line form to state your job title /NI number , symptoms etc .
In effect it is taken on trust that you (or a member of your household) is a qualifying individual .
We saw the selfishness of many in our society when stripping the supermarkets bare with no thought for the elderly or vulnerable - just have a feeling we are seeing it again !
Golfforall surprising that the form didn't include such important info, especially if it's on gov.uk (not sure if it is, but I'm assuming). And yeah, I still can't believe those that caused all that, and they're likely to blame as you say.
Testing is available for All essential workers in England and members of their households who are showing symptoms of coronavirus will now be able to get tested https://www.gov.uk/government/news/coronavirus-testing-extended-to-all-essential-workers-in-england-who-have-symptoms Employers can register and refer self-isolating staff, and employees will be able to book a test directly for themselves or members of their household who are experiencing symptoms – a high temperature or new continuous cough. It will be interesting to see how many actually turn up or have the virus.
Got a test centre across the road and am a teacher but will wait to use it until I am nearly back to work so I don't waste it
Apparently only of any use if you (or a household member ) have had the symptoms for 3-5 days . That won't stop any of the non entitled layabouts grabbing a slot thinking its a miracle cure !
I've been able to get a test through my work for several days but thankfully I haven't had any symptoms so a test would be pointless and a waste of time and resources (shame the pond life don't realise that !) .
I'm a key worker (but not frontline) We got an email saying we can apply for the tests but the site is constantly saying there isn't any available
KirstyWhit29673 are you or anyone in the house showing symptoms? If not, no need to worry about not getting a test
