Essentials for Holidays
Ask a Question
What are your essentials for when you go on holiday? Is there anything you take just for the kids?
This is the first year taking a little one on holiday. My daughter is 21 months and we a struggling with her case were allowed 10kg of luggage for her and weve weighed it at 18kg just on clothes. Where we are going to put nappies, milk, wetwipes, suncream and all the floatation devices i dont know
Depending on where you are going you could probably buy nappies, wipes, milk and suncream out there. Would save on the packing! But yeah kids need a lot of stuff! I was thankful I didn't need to pack nappies, wipes, milk or loads of toys for his hospital stay.
MrsCraig we are going to Turkey. The prices on suncream out there is silly and i had a load on offer with amazon i buy baby milk nappies and wipes from Aldi and wouldnt like to risk using a different brand incase she has a reaction. At least i will have plenty of room to bring home goodies as i can leave any left over nappies wipes and milk there
When my son was a baby, we took an empty hand luggage bag and bought the nappies, wipes and formula from the Superdrug at the airport. It's after security so no restrictions on volumes and weight. If you get yourself organised you can even arrange a click and collect order from there to make sure you get what you need. I've always bought suncream this way too.
We've never taken more than 25kg between 3 of us. We usually stay somewhere with laundry facilities or hand-wash a few things when there.
Try to learn the basics of that country's language. And additionally the use of an app translator if that fails.
A map. Probably rent a car to travel wherever you want (unless there's a warning not to).
Visit a Lidl/Aldi-type store to buy food at affordable prices. I remember a supermarket in Cyprus where they sold Tesco, to my surprise.
I take a pack of playing cards. Probably one of the world's best buys - kids can do so much with it - even make a tower when they get bored of card tricks, rummy, snap or whatever.
I always take a new toy or sticker book for the plane. Something a bit different from what they usually have to keep their attention.
