What Are People's Experiences With Shopping on Etsy?
Ask a Question
Has anyone on here ever bought anything from Etsy. It’s confusing trying to work out what stores like that are Genuine, Thank you in advance for your feedback though
I've bought some lovely things from Etsy, it is basically a marketplace for handmade items.
I would recommend if you see anything you like, add it to your favourites and wait a little while if you can though or follow the shop. As they often send you a voucher/discount to encourage you to buy it.
I have bought a few things from Etsy and encountered no problems so far, there's good communication too.
I have an Etsy shop, It's all individual shops (small businesses) - (sually selling handmade things. You can check on a sellers profile for their feedback and people sometimes add pictures of their items they've bought.
I've also bought off Etsy and I have never had any issues.
Just a little note though...If you are going to buy from Etsy, please take a moment to leave the shop feedback, most are small 'one man band' businesses and honestly the feedback really helps their Etsy shop grow
Thank you everyone for feedback, I will definitely look at the stores on Etsy. I will Remove this Post later,
I was going to delete this to save taking up space on here but I can’t find how to delete it
I looked on Etsy website earlier this year and it was full of overpriced recycled cardboard boxes, paper and hand made products. Go to the Works, Wilko, B&M and you can find better mass-produced goods for a faction of this overpriced website. A 99% rip off.
jam45 I think the majority of items from Etsy are great! Especially if your looking for something slightly different/unique instead of the same item every Tom,Dick & Harrys bought from B&M. Handmade items are very popular now, people appreciate the time & effort put into a handmade item from a small (usually single handed) business rather than a factory made item which are mass produced in the 1000s. I saw a quote recently about small businesses....
"When you buy from a small business you are not helping a CEO buy a third holiday home. You are helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get his football team trophy, a parent put food on the table".
I've bought off Etsy before. Never had a problem. Have a look at feedback left and if people have posted photos.
I have bought couple of thing from Etsy, was ok. Seller was not happy with my feedback star.
I've bought a gift for my mum and came very quickly, packaged very well and I was very impressed with the item.
I have bought from ETSY in the past, half a dozen times. They have a lot of products available and I had to search for a while to find exactly what I wanted but have been very pleased with the products that I did buy.
I saw a Nintendo Wii on there filled with pirated games for £100, yet sellers on eBay selling theirs for £15~30 have a hard time.
Good to know Etsy doesn't mind infringing copyright.
I got my sons a tshirt each, the seller knocked off the p&p for me. I'd asked about combined postage
I've bought various items without problems, including plants and jewelry. They sell some beautiful items.
Etsy is brilliant for gifts for people who appreciate hand made not mass made. You can find beautiful bespoke gifts galore but like many stores there are rogues hiding amongst
I think it's a great place and you get money off your first purchase. I think especially because you deal and speak with people who are behind the items and not a third party. It's great for personalised ideas.
loooo666 that's what I love about my etsy shop, I get to actually speak to my customers and I'm able create something unique for them that's personal and not mass produced.
I bought a couple things mostly personalised outfits for my daughters birthday , I found great !
Mixed, some sellers have been great, really good quality and excellent service and others I have had to chase up to find out where my order is. But on the whole my experience has been mostly positive especially for personalised items.
Love etsy great place to shop if u are looking for something different or special can be a bit pricey but you can't beat handmade or supporting a small company
