Where is Your Favorite Place to Visit?
Ask a Question
What is the best place you have been and why? I'm excited to travel again after lockdown and would love some ideas
Italy most definitely - the food, the weather, the culture.. just love it all. I’ve been to Rome and Lake Garda and would love to go to Venice or the Almafi Coast next
I LOVE Venice! Spent last christmas there and watching Santas in the gondolas is very entertaining!
Bangor in Northern Ireland and the Highlands in Scotland. We go to visit family, but there are lots of beautiful places to visit and are all in driving distance. We go every year and there are still plenty places we havent visited yet.
Antarctica and South Georgia. I'm also particularly fond of Iceland as this where we got married.
I also loved Japan.
How did you get to Antarctica, were you part of an expedition? I would love to visit but cant get there without being part of a research team.
Getsome we went from Argentina and used Airmiles to fly to Ushuaia. We then took a cruise on an expedition ship for two weeks visiting Falklands Islands, South Georgia and Antarctica. You can find last minute cruises once in Ushuaia but they ain't cheap and you don't have to be part of a research team. It's a once in a lifetime trip. We went about 5 years ago now.
rararachel Ah so a cruise. I thought you meant you stayed there. I would love to visit Scott's hut but you cant unless a scientist
I'd love to go to Antarctica! That's such a once in a lifetime trip! I've also heard very good things about Iceland - was hoping to go there for a honeymoon!
Getsome no, you can't stay there unless as you say, for research. The ship was an expedition ship so we did do hiking and kayaking.
Scottish highlands, Glen Coe in particular. We stay there most years. Such stunning scenery & I have the best memories of our get aways there while my sons were growing up.
Without a doubt, Italy. The food, the mood, the wines, the friendliness, the weather and the architecture. Florence is a favourite but have been to Rome, Naples, Sardinia and other tourist spots. There's lots more I want to discover - Siena, Verona, Venice.......this list goes on.
I did spend a weekend in Milan and visited La Scala to see La Boheme but I was blown away by the Duomo cathedral. I would love to visit Rome and Bruges but as I have now forsaken air travel it won't happen. Mind you my boss sometimes does coach trips to Bruges so it may happen.
PS Another poster who never comes back but Tbh I have given up worrying about it, the rest of us can still chat!
I've visited Kenya six times, I would love to go back, the people are lovely and the wildlife is absolutely amazing.
A bit of both really - I miss South Africa and Paris but I also was thinking of going to New Zealand
They did let us back in, only for

I would have to say Australia because I have visited my aunt who lives over there a few times in Sydney
LeighReidAtanas I would love to go to Australia but some of their animals are terrifying!
mhancomps yeah I tried not to think about the spiders part I never seen any thankfully
LeighReidAtanas I’ve seen some stories online of people who have woken up with huntsman spiders sat on their face. Really puts me off!
Even though I have only been once I would have to say Paphos Cyprus. The weather was amazing and the people there all seemed very friendly
Amsterdam not because of the Cannabis or red light district but for the beautiful scenery. If anyone goes i highly recommend a boat trip you'll definitely see the beauty of the city.
chelseaturpin I’ve heard really good things about the architecture! It’s on my list for sure!
Prague and New York.
Prague because there is so much to do, and beer is the equivalent of 90p a pint.
New York, because it's so lively, vibrant and there's something to see or do around every corner.
I'd say Tokyo (or Japan if picking a country), so much to see and do (and buy). An incredible variety of good places to eat. Plus, I can stock up on all the weird and wonderful flavours of KitKat
