Favourite Celebrities from Your Childhood/teens

I have never been the hero worshipping type, preferring to see celebs as those with a special talent or lots of luck.
However, I did have favourites that I loved to watch or listen to but hardly anyone I mention them to has ever heard of them!
One of my fave actors was Lee Majors, but not in Six Million Dollar Man but The Big Valley, a western series a bit like Bonanza.
I also liked The Baron starting Steve Forrest, a sort of spy type hero like The Saint with Roger Moore, another favourite.
I never did think much of The Beatles and their simple ditties but preferred The Monkees as a kid, especially Davy Jones.
I played Gary Puckett and the Union Gap incessantly on my little portable record player, loved Young Girl and This Girl is a Woman Now.
Anyone remember any of these, and what are yours?

I was a bit slow on the uptake there lilyflower, yep I get it now but they weren't called the Chimps lol. Hmmmm now where have I heard that name before?!

I was born in the early 80s, So the 80's / 90s were my era. I loved Culture Club & later Take That. I adored Tom Cruise after watching Top Gun & had the biggest poster of him on my wall. I wish I'd been around to see bands in the 60s/70s such as 'The Animals' , Bowie, Pink Floyd, Springstein & my fav Bob Seger
I am really sorry to say that I did not like the 80s/90s and they really did pass me by. I was too busy being a wife/mum/housewife and had put pop music well behind me lol.
As a teenager I loved David Tennant in Dr Who! He played such a brilliant character and he is still a brilliant actor. He is the only one I can really think of as like you Lynibis I am not a hero worshipping type.
I grew up listening to the Monkees and Gary Puckett, they were brilliant.
MrsCraig here's another little story to do with Gary Puckett. I think I told it on here a long time ago but lots of newbies since then. When my family and I travelled back from Oz in 1969 I had a portable record player and played Gary Puckett a lot, on the top deck of the ship with a group of other teens.
A gust of wind blew it like a frisbee over the side but lucky for me it landed in a lifeboat. A 16 yr old action boy climbed over and retrieved it for me, two years 3 months later we married.....yes, I was only 17!
I still shudder to think of the risk he took even though he is long gone. And the tie in to Arc of a Diver was that he grew into a real action man becoming a deep sea diver (navy trained) working all over the world on oil rigs!
MrsCraig after our chat above I spent a lot of time on YouTube last night listening to GP singing all their hits, a real nostalgia trip. One clip shows him just a year ago on an Australian chat show where he was touring to sold out concerts. I couldn't believe how good he looked as he must have been at least 18 at height of fame, probably nearer 20/21 so must now be at least 70/73!
However, on another clip on a chat show he tried to sing Over You, and I say tried because he appeared to really struggle. It was sad to see but these singers never seem to know when it is time to put away the microphone.
Lynibis I'm amazed he is still singing! Some singers don't sound as good when they get older. I remember seeing Bonnie Tyler on tv last year and she seemed to struggle, but Tom Jones sang on the voice and he still sounded amazing and out sang the other person! But some singers carry on long after they should have given up.
As im a 90s baby my fave celebs growing up were britney slears, xtina, hilary duff, lindsay lohan and raven symone
I have heard of them all except last one if you mean Tina Cross? I was a fan of the music of Eurythmics, Celine Dion ( back in the day) and Toni Braxton.
Lynibis not tina cross lol raven had her own show on disney channel called 'thats so raven'. I love both celine dion and eurthymics
Oh dear, sorry to say I have never heard of him lol. But then I am not into sport in any way, shape or form. Don't mind a bit of ice skating though!
I always liked PJ and Duncan from Baker Grove. So I was thrilled to see them pairing up to do things together after the show, even though their songs were cheesy as hell. And now they’ve been around as Ant and Dec for a while now, still happy to see they’ve paired up for life
Yes they recently went through a rough patch but they both passed the true friendship test and came out the other side.
hspexy Dec wasn't too happy about the drinking/drugs(painkiller)episode and they had to stop filming for a year when they did that documentary about searching the ancestors. When filming began again they apparently had a good talk and Dec admitted he was upset that Ant had excluded him and not confided his problems. It started around the time of the drink driving business.
