What Are Your Favourite Things to Eat in Autumn?
Other
My favourites are chestnuts (which I used to have in my garden until I moved house - it was always great getting loads of them as they’re quite expensive in the shops. Standing on the spiny burrs wasn‘t fun though!) I also love butternut squash and mushrooms this time of year. Apple pie always makes me think of autumn too!
Apple crumble, well any crumble really from the fruits I freeze when they are available. Leek & potato soup. Stews & chilli's are a favourite in the colder weather too. I am so glad I have just had breakfast otherwise I would to drooling now!
I love crumbles too - I’d say I prefer rhubarb crumble and custard, of all the crumbles though! Definitely chillis for me too!
cocolgooh I have plums, apple & rhubarb in the freezer and with the rain & cold we are having.... I feel a crumble coming on today
tumblespots That sounds like a good idea! They’re nice and warming on a cool day. I might just make one later today too, maybe apple and blackberry.
cocolgooh I haven't got any blackberries just the three fruits named above all frozen, but ready to go with little notice. It's such a shame as \I made cheesecake earlier in the week to take to a friend for dinner, they love it so I left it with them! Mind you, I could feel a treacle sponge coming on too.... (Not as well as the crumble though, I couldn't eat both)
tumblespots I’m glad the cheesecake went down well with your friend! I think desserts generally are comforting this time of year. Treacle sponge is another great one.
Apple and blackberry crumble made with fruit from the garden, homemade soups and stews. Comfort food basically
We don’t really have seasonal meals but my apples in the garden are ready to pick so I will definitely be making apple crumble.
We don't really do seasonal food, we tend to eat the same things all year round. Everyone seems to be saying apple crumble but I don't like apple crumble.
This time of year I batch cook homemade soup, also as some have mentioned I use the apples from the garden and we had apple crumble and custard last night, it was yummy.
What sort of soups do you make? I‘ve been enjoying parsnip soup lately, never used to like it but I guess my taste changed!
Apples and pears from my garden and walnuts from the trees down the road, I guess it helps that they are free.
I was just saying to a friend today iv been craving a bowl of thick homemade soup & a crusty roll for days & that it must be the weather changing. So much so I popped to shop on way home & bought some broccoli & stilton for lunch tomorrow.
I love a stew with dumplings too.
I love having crusty rolls with soup. It’s not the same with regular rolls instead, to me. Haven’t had dumplings for ages! I might just have to make some!
We have had apple crumble, apple pie and apple cakes. Our apple trees have had a good year!
I quite like french fries and gravy mayo.
Spinach and ricotto filled pasta in a reduced beef consomme soup. gf carrot cake from marks and sparks.
Carrot cake is another one I love! I’d forgotten about it, but now this is making me want to make some!
Try this recipe, its heaven

That looks like it would be good - I didn’t think to add chocolate to apple crumble but I bet it’d work really well. I’ll have to give it a go!
Nothing in particular. I just find it’s cold and start fancying more soup noodles/ramen with lots of chilli…then again, I like that in the summer also lol
I add chillies to everything all year round too. They can add so much flavour, as well as warmth, that I guess I gravitate towards them.
I haven't had roasted chestnuts for years !
For me it's Jacket potatoes, cottage pies, casseroles, proper comfort food.
beccatavender Roasted chestnuts are definitely a favourite of mine! I love a good jacket potato too!
