Do You Feel Everyone is following the Lockdown Rules?
Ask a Question
So we are all back in a lockdown (as we all know), but do you feel everyone is taking it seriously? In my area everyone seems to be socialising still and mixing in groups and I just don’t understand why people are not taking it seriously!
People took #lockdown 1 seriously and many were literally scared to come out of their doors , #lockdown 2 came and went without accomplishing anything so when #3 arrived everyone thought f*ck it , nothing seems to work we'll just wait and see !! Remember PT Barnum
This is no lockdown at all seen more people around most of the shops are still open first lockdown there was no one out apart from going shop or walking there pets
I don't think people are this time. This morning the sledging was socially distanced but probably most people did that to avoid crashing
The first one was OK, I haven't noticed any difference with this one, lots of people and cars and everything is open
Where we live, there is a high proportion of elderly people so everyone seems to be following the rules. I think as long as we take responsibility for our own behaviour, hopefully we can all keep safe.
Certainly not like the first lockdown , but I think in my area the vast majority of people are being sensible and taking care in the things they do, but you always get the odd one or two that don't but that's people for you.
When working I am often paired with a belligerent, quick to take offence kind of guy who doesn't take orders well and is quite argumentative. However, he and I get on really well and have a good giggle most of the time.
During this lockdown staff have been told they must have a test every week in order to work (not me as I am staying home) and they were told over the phone. His wife works for us too so she took the call but it now transpires that he is not having the tests because 'I wasn't phoned, they just phoned the wife'.
Our boss doesn't realise this and I am shocked because this guy has a serious heart problem and has had a triple bypass!
Not much point your employees insisting everyone should have a test every week, unless they checked to make sure everyone did. Also such instructions should be given directly to the individual, not expecting them to be passed on (second hand) by someone else.
davidstockport I 100% agree with your first point although people do lie and there wouldn't be time to visit every employee to check results. Especially when meant to be in lockdown.
But we are a small company and if I phoned one member of a couple who were together indoors to relay an instruction that all staff should comply, I wouldn't expect to have to hang up, phone the other one possibly sitting together. He is showing total disregard for his own health (his heart problem) but also his passengers and co workers, surely not a good enough reason to sit on his high principles.
davidstockport PS our work set up is weird because us and the two in charge are under contract to the council so our bosses (really co workers) are also having to obey the rules.
Lynibis I consider your employees could be culpable in law if any person contracted Covid because of their failure to ensure that their instructions were passed on to those concerned. It wouldn't be a sufficient defence to say "We told his wife to tell him".
I don't think people are taking it as seriously as they did the first one, but I think the police are getting more involved now so hopefully that will make a difference.
I think there are a lot not following them this time. I think it’s crazy how many people openly post on social media about breaking rules too. Really winds me up being stuck at home trying to keep safe when so many are carrying on as normal
The lockdown is a joke too be honest and its public and government to blame. The public cant follow simple rules and the government cant enforce rules so it feels like we are going round in circles at times.
Our neighbour has different people round every day and partys even though they work for NHS another neighbour reported them but police were not interested
I agree. My area seems busier than ever and people seem to be hanging around in groups chatting which I just don’t get at all!!
People bend the rules to suit their situation. Some are sending their children to school (keyworkers) even when they’re not working. Shameful but who would report them?
I nipped out to my local town yesterday & was shocked. I expected it to be much busier but it was almost dead.
Absolutely not , Lockdown 1 everyone took it seriously, Lockdown 2 Very few people took it seriously And the current lockdown i dont think anyone is taking it seriously.
This is just my opinion im sorry if i offend anyone
This does not help with lockdown and that the fact nothing appropriate will happen to the guy will make people not follow rules. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-55839252
Totally agree . I do go through life thinking that some people need a trip to the hospital and see it at its worse and then maybe then they alter there ways and thinking .
stuartsmith544 I agree! It’s such an insult to the people in hospital and NHS workers
In my area, I would say that most people are. But there are certainly a lot less taking it seriously now than they did during the first lockdown.
Living in a village, although on a main road, it is very quiet and not much traffic either.
However, some friends travelled across the country to a funeral and said that it was busier than it usually would have been before the enforced 'house arrest' (lockdown).
Nope, people aren't following the rules in my area. The huge amount of non compliance is probably the reason that cases, deaths and hospitalisations are still really high. We've been in lockdown for a month now and over 10 million have been vaccinated but things haven't gotten much better.
