What film traumatised you as a child?
For me - Jaws! Spent my childhood swimming off Brighton beaches. Once I saw Jaws, it was swimming pools all the way !!
MrsCraig you should watch the original – Kimba the White Lion.
The Lion King was a ripoff of it.
I can't remember any films that traumatised me when I was a child, they were all rubbish back then.
PinkElephant26 my daughter wanted to go home from the cinema right at the beginning of ET when he was rustling through the undergrowth.
The Exorcist I was a teenager then though, I still can't watch it ..the music and everything about the movie freaked me out x
nina090976 I remember seeing it at the cinema, there were protesters outside with placards saying it was immoral etc, the police and st johns ambulance were on standby inside
A lot of people walked out midway through and one person fainted
You watch it now and it is quite tame compared to some movies that have done the rounds
When Ghostbusters first came out that scared me a few years later I loved it
I can't remember which bond film but jaws was trying to throw him out of helicopter I still wont watch bond
It was a movie with a gorilla, no not King Kong, it was something else.
Like this:
He broke into a house.. and that's what I remember. It scared me so much I always keep it in my memories, but never know what movie it is.
Labyrinth - Freaked me out , love it now tho.
The Exorcist - Still can't watch it through now. Chilling!
There are a few, but I grew to like them. Carrie was a bit traumatising, particularly with all the blood…
any movie involving the death of animals, i still can't watch any of those movies knowing that the dog will pass away at the end
I have never been traumatised by a film but my half sister was by ET after watching it at school at the age of 7, she has never been the same since. It really messed her up and changed her.
Watched the original 'Salems Lot' from 1979 starring David Soul on pirate video as an 11yo. Never slept with a window open since!
Found it!
It was from "Mighty Joe Young" (1998) at 01:08:00 where he storms in. Now, it's not so scary anymore.
Glad I finally got this settled.
Has to be the IT . I remember my aunt putting it on then she fell asleep and I was sitting there in the dark watching it
Jaws!!! I'm still scared of the sea now and I won't even paddle..also I watched the original Chainsaw massacre when I was about 9 and it scared me rigid... Now I can watch so called horror films and laugh at them but shark films still scare me.
A film called On the Beach, starring Gregory Peck and it scared the proverbial out of me. It was about a nuclear war that had killed nearly everyone and Greg was captain of a ship (submarine?) that ended up in Melbourne and everyone was just waiting to die when the nuclear dust reached them. They were given suicide pills, it was horrible and I would never have let my kids watch it.....thanks mum and dad, bad dreams for yonks.
The Cyclops in the Sinbad movie. I found that very scary as a child and it was in a double feature at the cinema and kids of any age were allowed in.

Couldn't actually show the image directly as the site flags it as an adult image perhaps because of a large amount of skin colour.
Not a film but a tv series , Twizzle, it gave me the creeps , and nightmares
It was like watching a chucky black and white
The first time I watched Carrie freaked me out - can’t look at a crucifix without shuddering
not the whole films but a part in each, salmen’s lot (in the cell) and the Oman (dog part).
