Do You Ever Come Across Money Randomly?
Ask a Question
Do you ever come across money randomly? Whether it be a few coppers, 5p, 10p, pound coins or fivers or more?
How much does it have to be for you to pick it up?
Found 2 shiny 5p pieces this weekend and I gladly obliged I often see pennies on the floor, but I may or may not pick those up, depending on if others are watching
I have picked up pound coins before and found many fivers but my dream that I always have walking my morning route of seeing a black brife case has never happened yet so dreams don't come true
Lol that sounds like my dream also, although preferably not in an identifiable bag, probably in some kind of carrier bag that looks random that no one would miss
I once saw a multi millionaire on television saying he'd pick up any coin - even a penny, he also explained how he got to be a millionaire. I used to pick up any coins I found between when I parked my car and reached the swimming baths, there was (still is) a collection box for guide dogs for the blind, in the shape of a dog, anything I found went in there. (I'm not a millionaire)
Before I retired a lady in our office brought in a jar in which she put coins she found and encouraged us to do the same. The money went to charity and was often boosted by extra money gifts.
I always felt a little sad if I found bank notes, thinking that the person who lost them might need the money more than I do. I used to know where to look for them when walking my dog, that was; in wire netting on windy days, I must over the years have found hundreds of bank notes I've never kept them though.
Lol you’re a better person than I am! In my culture, the belief is that if you find money, you need to gamble with it - a distant uncle went to the races in the 90s and he found a £50 note on the floor, which he swiftly picked up and put down on a horse...to win £50k! He’s a miserly git so no one benefitted from it apart from him
Hi davidstockport I feel the same about finding notes. I would be thinking that the person who lost it may have needed it more than me. I give any I find to charity also.
Johnny I thought the same Johnny - I suspect perhaps an honest mistake with a nought (or perhaps two). I checked things out and found this:
Equinoctial won at Kelso in November 1990 at odds of 250-1 and remains the longest-odds winner in British racing.
I suppose you could get odds of 1,000 to one on Red Rum winning the Grand National for a fourth time though.
I could do with finding a few notes right now....if anyone wants to drop any in my direction
i dont but my kids are forever finding coins when i go shopping with them or down the park lol i always call them little magpies lol
I found a 5 euros note in the water while swimming in the sea years ago. It got stuck to my face and i freaked out until I realised what it was
Lol that must’ve been shocking, until the moment you realised it was money It was good the sea water didn’t damage it
My mother used to be a dinner lady in a secondry school and the kids would throw the 1s, 2s and 5s at each other or on the floor. They started a tin and would pick up the coins walking through the school. They had over £100 each at the end of each year.
Wow that’s some serious money! I remember the kids in my school used to chuck their pennies. I never understood it, as money is money. I still have a piggy bank with old coppers
Whilst walking on a beach one day I spotted a £10 on the pebbles (no sand). It was a windy day so clearly has got away from someone else - although it was deserted at the time. Their loss was my gain!
