Fish and Chips Shop Serves up Battered Terry's Chocolate Orange
News
I've just been reading this a thought I would share this with you all
A fish and chips shop is offering up a bizarre new treat just in time for Christmas. Terry's chocolate orange.
Adam's bay chip shop in Gainsborough Lincolnshire gave customers the chance to vote for the festive item they wanted to be deep fried.
Terry's chocolate orange was the clear winner and will now be added to the menu.
The shop already serves battered mice pies and jumbo pigs in blankets.
What ever next last week icelands are now selling Christmas tree crips now this fish shop is selling batted terry's chocolate orange. What next Christmas bubble crisp. I know one thing I could do eat it. I could eat the pig's in blanket s. That's about all. What do you make of it all. And would you like to try terry's chocolate orange
Lol I never even brought myself close to getting the deep fried and battered mars bar, so this is definitely new territory when it comes to getting stuff from the chippy for me
Are fish and chip shop still do the deep fried mars bar. I can't eat chocolate it makes me very poorly. But I've seen people buy the mars bar deep fried. So I can't see it Will be long be for my chip shop dose the terry's chocolate orange. It's all to make money. Because fish and chips are set to rocket in price. Because of the bad weather we had this year. To wet then to dry.
nicolajaynehend I’ve only ever seen it up north, never here in London. Wouldn’t try it myself as I’m not a fan of junk chocolate. The price of potato always keeps going up
Everything deep fried tastes better Given the chance I'd try it and probably enjoy it. When I was in Scotland I used to enjoy getting a deep fried pizza from the local chippie. Tasty, but probably not the healthiest thing in the world.
Never heared of deep fryed pizza. Was it done in batter. And the topping stay in place. That must have been hard to fry a pizza.
nicolajaynehend It wasn't battered. It was also a bit smaller than you'd get in a pizzeria to fit in the fryer. It's available in many chippies in scotland. You can also get at least two types of deep fried pizzas in Italy.
ACR it dose not sound to bad. Not sure if my chippy dose it. I know they do deep fry mars bars. So they might do it. I will ask next time .
Thank you for your reply. Yes that's what I was thinking it would melts. But I guess they know what they are doing. They must have tryed a few out to get the right temperature right.
nicolajaynehend not sure, rather have a chocolate fudge terry orange cake than a deep fried killer.
You can get a number of deep fried and battered chocolate items here in Scotland. You can also get deep fried, battered pizza in most chippies in Scotland. Deep fried, battered haggis is rather nice. I don't like the mars bars so wouldn't try the chocolate oranges deep fried (even though I love them) and I haven't had a deep fried, battered pizza (normally known as a pizza crisp) since I was a teenager.
Thank you for your reply. Here in the highlands my local chippy still do deep frayed mars bar and at Easter time they do the creamegg deep frayed. I all so love deep fry battered haggis. Buts now again.
nicolajaynehend I don't think that our local chippy does them, but then again I have never actually looked for it. I heard that some places were doing creme eggs at easter, again not something I would want to try.
A chip shop nearby does different things deep fried, my son has a deep fried Nutella sandwich and a deep fried creams egg, he said both were disgusting It was hilarious to watch him try them! I bet he'd be up for trying the chocolate orange fried!!
Thank you for your reply. .I can't eat chocolate it me poorly. Would love to have seen your son eat it. But you could not stop laughing. Next time you could take a photo of him eating it. Then you could show him eating it. And why you were laughing so much.
I think if you took the idea away from a chip shop people would be more inclined to eat it. For me it's the idea of them going into the same fryer as the fish :-/ but I have friends who love deep fried chocolate bars. It's probably very tasty. X
Thank you for your reply. I like the good old fashion chipp shop. Were there was not chocotlat on the menu. I know few people who had deep fryed mars bar. And they love it. Not for me.
nicolajaynehend I think I would give it a try, always good to try something once. I think eating a whole round Terry's chocolate orange would be sickly so would be great to share, a bar would be more manageable I think. :-)
Funnily enough I had a Terry's chocolate orange today and I live above a chip shop.. If I saw this before I may have been tempted to try this lol
Thank you for your reply. You are the first one to say they would give it a try. I can't eat chocolate. But if you do eat a terrys. Chocolate orange. Can you let me know and if you like it. Thank you.
The thought of it makes me feel physically sick. It must obviously work but all I can imagine is hot melting chocolate seeping through fatty batter.
Battered mince pies as well omg sounds horrible but to be fair i always say dont knock it till you tried it lol you never know maybe nice yak xx
