Football Cancelled, Oh Dear! but you can go on holiday :) Well not now :( :(

In the News

Football (and other sport) is cancelled but the Government is quite happy for 200+persons to get on a plane several times a day and take a holiday.

What happens when you cough at destination airport and they say b***** off? Self-isolate in car park 'til a flight home then self-isolate again?

You can also go and get penned in like cattle and watch some horses. When abroad you can self isolate in a rental car 😂

As many as possible healthy people need to contract and recover from the virus to build immunity otherwise it will only come back next year and kill even more people!

My husband has said this is to stop Leeds getting promotion. The last time they cancelled the football season was the second world war and it was on hold until 1946. He's a football encyclopedia 🤦‍♀️

rls My husband believes this too! If Piers Morgan has his way all matches will be null and void this season and start fresh next year. Piers Morgan - Brian Clough's love child?......🤔

angemski I'm praying it's not all null and void, I can't cope with another season of tears and tantrums from a grown man

Latest text from NHS-NO REPLY reads '(my medical practice name) - Important Message COVID-19 New NHS advice from 13th March. If you have a continuous cough or fever then self isolate for 7 days and follow advice in the link https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19 Do not visit your GP or hospital Do not ring 111

If the NHS do not want you, who is to know if you just want 7 days off and a cheap holiday. Government still lets you can fly and return!

Better yet, who is to even know if you are ill, who will help you if really bad (older person) and how will they get accurate statistics.

To answer your question tho lily, you can bet your bottom dollar that if you took the time off sneakily, after the 7 days you would get the real thing and look like a right twit!

Lynibis I'd worry too much about taking the time off, if I did then that would be me. Never mind not going anywhere, holiday has been cancelled - see my post at end.

Yep lilyflower I know the feeling. Just waiting to see if my holiday to Scotland will be cancelled. 50/60 people crammed together on a coach no different to flying and I don't want to be stranded up there, unless of course they have a Jamie from Outlander to nurse me back to health lol.

Lynibis Depends when and where you are going. I'm sure garygemmell would visit you, he seems to cheer most people up. Scotland is an ok place to get stuck in, at least they speak English, well most do.

Can't go to Spain now I believe.

A lot of expats feel the UK are taking money above most things and should take less from what's happened in Italy.

Just read this - 2020-03-13 14:09:00 Majorca By Majorca Daily Bulletin reporter. Government orders massive shutdown in Mallorca. She also recommended that anyone arriving in the Balearic Islands from risk areas stay at home for 15 days as a precaution. BUT our Government/airline/holiday company say it is OK for me to go at end of month!!

The Balearic Government today ordered the closure of all discos, clubs, pubs, nightclubs, gyms and sports facilities, casinos and game rooms in Mallorca and Ibiza.

suziq6 Thanks, we were cancelled last night by Travel Agent, but lost Ryanair flight money unless we change flights before end of month, but I suppose £56 is not a lot to cry over when it could have been a lot worse.

I'm waiting (and hoping) that my trip to Romania & Bulgaria In April gets cancelled.

I've suddenly lost the appetite for travel.

I got an email just after 6 from Travel Agent giving the option of going (final payment due Monday) or if cancelling there would be no cancellation charges, unfortunately flights paid for (£60) and Ryanair website says flights can be re-arranged free of charge between 13 - 31 March. Give TA a ring.

lilyflower It's good that some travel Agents are being decent and allowing people to change or cancel and not be penalised for it. Sadly Lastminute.com aren't doing that, yet.

lilyflower That's handy information, thank you.

I am also in the at risk group for Coronavirus, as I suffer from Asthma.

I think I would have a fair to good case in cancelling my break and getting a refund,

blacklabrador - I don't think I would take the risk. Can you get a Doctor to give you a cert for insurance company to say you are at risk?

Majorca isn't great in March/April anyway - the only saving grace was that the bars have all the Premiership matches live on (even on a Saturday afternoon ) . Sadly not anymore .

Save some money , stay at home , stock up on booze , eat takeaways , don't socialise by going out .

To sum up become a gamer , they seem to survive in social isolation - even before the advent of this nasty !

I've had several emails from brands trying to reassure the public that they will do their best to minimize the risks in their locations. The first is first if from Pizza Hut and the second is Royal Mail. It's like everybody is waking up and it explains why the Iceland delivery guy delivered, quickly and retreated to 5 metres away with no signature necessary.
