Free Elderflower Cordial (Well Almost)
Money Saving
Hi Lovely Deal Lovers,
If like me you've noticed the great abundance of elderflowers blooming out everywhere at the moment then you may wish to have a go at making your own elderflower cordial. It's fun, quick, something you can do with the children and tastes beautiful, either mixed simply with water or used as a base syrup with prosecco (for the grown-ups). 2 tips. Please make sure you know what you're picking and also make sure you pick the flower heads on a dry day and oh, one last thing, don't take them all as the flowers turn into elderberries for the birds later in the season. Here's the recipe - Good luck.
I did make this before. but u need to collect the flowers from a clean place, not polluted one.
I think you can infuse gin or vodka with the flowers too...
I tend to pick elderberries and make throat lozenges with them. Sure as eggs is eggs I get a bad throat the moment I make them, thanks Murphy!!
dawarwick or you could make Elderberry Champagne https://www.greatbritishchefs.com/recipes/elderflower-champagne-recipe and when the berries are ripe there's wine, liqueur, jam/jelly.
